I have used verisurf.
I know it hasn't been used with programmable cmm's
but I have used it for probing on a fadal. I made macro routines to locate tooling balls, bores, bosses or corners and then verisurf makes a path for a 700 probe. I set it for a double hit according to the renishaw guide books. the points go right back into the software for analysys.
I works really well. I was really surprised that no one ever purchased it for that.

see chamfer_billy
I just made a surface to trim the solid to.
I know it isn't what we wanted but I think it is a workaround.
I too am surprised that mastercam doesn't do this with chamfer. It really looks so easy

I have seen dimis and have to agree with you guys.
I saw language based commands no real graphics interface.
Verisurf is totally graphics based and you can use all the editing from MC. The first thing I noticed is when you do an alignment the probe appears on the screen. then when you move the probe it is real time on the screen. You can see the probe go into hole and pockets.
the automate tool is really quick for production checking.
Easy to create lines arcs, planes, cylinders and points. also checks these to model.
verisurf seems to work with anything. with the new faro arm it is probably 5 times faster than a manual cmm.
verisurf rules.

it looks ok to me except the p command. I have never used it in tapping cycle. also you dont need the g99. I dont think it does anything wrong but I never use it. the f160. should be the same as the spindle speed
if you use a small arc for lead in/out. use center for start point. don't use line. it will put a line in automatically from the center to the lead in arc.
I use contour, the center for entry and exit point and just a .02 or .03 rad for lead in/out. I dont give it a line length so it puts it in automatic.
works great and can use ccomp
sounds like your are on the right track. there are a few ways to define your cplane. I use 2 line and normal and arc the most. it will assign a temporary view number.
if you want to make it top view you can translate between views, but you should soon get good at drawing in any cplane.
I just use the simple setup sheet from ncutils. The one that makes a picture of the tool only. I also have the listing in the beginning of the program. just make sure you edit the comment when defining the parameters.
I tried the html setup sheet but I didn't like 20 page setup sheet.
Marc,
Sounds like you need catia. I bet you will be real happy with their post system. If you have had mastercam since the early 90's and aren't satisfied then something is really wrong and I have a feeling it isn't the post processor.
