  1. I did....... OOPS was replying to the switch software post and one squeezed in between.
  2. Wow I agree 100% with Ron. I drilled some holes in mine and used lead anchors, I use them for "hold downs".
  3. Yes but ethernet and a lancnc from calmotion... it's like having a little computer at the machine. Drop the program in the folder, DNC with the machine. I vote ethernet you will save the money you spend quickly. I'm doing it on a fadal and a mori, the minute the real computers take a crap at the haas and the mazak they will get lancnc's from calmotion.
  4. Just called Hemly. A dorian MCLNR12-4B holder (for CNMP43... lathe tool, very common) MSC $75.88 Hemly: $51.06 AND while I was on the phone they also said they have an import for $37.50, offered the info without me even prompting. If it is going out in the shop for the mechanics to beat on the import is fine, if it is going on the CNC I get the Dorian.
  5. Hemly simply has the best prices on anything you can buy. I get all my holders and boring bars from them. It is the only place I call that I get equal knowledge and service from anybody I speak to there. They are great about telling you of "alternatives" if there is an inexpensive equivalent for something you are looking for. I like asking for a solid carbide coolant thru left handed 5/8 diameter 4 inch long boring bar that takes a ccmt 21.51 insert and them knowing exactly what you are talking about.
  6. Hemly is awesome, I get all my holders from them and used to get all my inserts there also. Small carbide I get from Harvey End mills I get OSG, Monster, accupro, SGS from Fastenal. Fastenal does all my regrinds too, incredible quality always outperforms the original end mill. If I absolutely need it overnight I get it through McMaster Carr but they never tell you what brand it is on the internet. I'll only order from MSC if nobody else has anything I need in stock and someone is holding a gun to my head AND THEN I will only order one piece.
  7. It says enabled. Then you click on enabled and it enables it. To disable it you have to click on enabled again. Thanks Keith.
  8. Nope. I don't really use it was more curious due to seeing questions regarding it. What is and where do we find the viewsheets utility?
  9. Personally I had played with but never used the viewports that were not included in X8. Was wondering how many other daily users did or did not use the viewports. Thanks-
  10. I looked at it and immediately thought pocket with island. Just draw a rectangle around it half your cutter size bigger than stock and use pocket.
  11. Ron you might want to hop over to the other forum I think we are on to something regarding the dirty ops.
  12. Yes, I hold down the middle mouse button but there is another way, somebody help me LOL.
  13. The server usually either has a firewall or brute force detection. These things go horribly wrong sometimes or block IP's that get leased to other ISP's. Your IP might change and be instantly blocked because a spammer spoofed that IP 2 months back.
  14. Maybe that is why I have never noticed this phenomenon, I regenerate when I change anything out of habit. Sometimes feedrates and coolant settings will not make an op go dirty, I always regen. Lathe in X8 don't give me a choice. I can import a X6 file and ops don't go dirty. I save it in X8, pick it the next day and all ops are dirty. But I think this is a known issue.
  15. It happens all the time around here. The mills just go down but we have one old Mazak lathe that will drift in Z until it hits the chuck. No way to stop it either just stand back and hold your ears. My Fadal won't even shut off for a spike, it's like it has it's own power supply LOL. I have seen like a 1.5 second outage that killed everything in the building including the compressor and the computer systems... the fadal kept on running.
  16. Uhhh what's this for?

  17. i7-2700K 16G ram Win 7 pro Quadro 2000 X8 5M 17.754S
  18. I've never done it on a CNC but do it plenty on the manual mills. We have one job I set up like that years ago out of necessity and we run it still with a tool clamped in the vise feeding with the quill. Turning the OD down on stainless nuts. Whatever it takes to get the job done with the tools you have in your hand.
  19. Too funny, a valid mastercam question thread morphing into Jay's underwear habits. I love the internet!!!
  20. Stopped by the cimco booth about 10 times didn't see ya. Next time I plan on doing all week, lets at least do lunch. CDS is buying LOL. Looks like it is contained to this one printer, for some reason X8 does not like this particular printer. 2 different terminals. HP Laser Jet Pro 400 color M451dn. Just took 16 minutes 52 seconds to print something. Everything else including X6 and X7 prints instantly. I have a call in to Fastech maybe there is a special driver.
  21. Is anyone else having unusually long print times from X8? I'm posting this while waiting on the printer, it has been over 3 minutes. I could have taken a screen shot and printed it sooner, but it taxes my black toner cartridge.
  22. I just miss it as when I go to the menu on the top I still scan with my eyes for modify. Like I reach for the column shifter when I drive my wife's honda. Modify was part of my life for like 15 years or more.
  23. Was going to post a poll but I don't see the option for that? Where did that go? Anyhow I just discovered the 3 mastercam users in this building immediately changed their background color to Black upon loading X8. What screen color did you end up with?
