  1. It has never broken. I think I changed it once over the entire time we have been using it only because the piece of material is $1000+. I go at least 4 mm deep but probably more at 500 rpm. I can give the exact number when I'm at work tomorrow.
  2. I would try to find a form tap. We are tapping a m1 thread in fee machining invar which machines similar to stainless. It is an emuge form tap and was 70 bucks each but its worth it. I peck tap at 2mm peck I believe. I can get the EDP number tomorrow if you wish. They should have an inch selection.
  3. Whatever you don't want to cut make it the same chain as the machining zone.
  4. I make my machining zone the part rectangle. Then would add 2 lines in your removal area and chain them as avoidance with the remaining outside of the part and use dynamic high speed. May have to break the outside profile so you can make a full chain This has worked good for me and having parts of the same chain in machining/avoidance doesn't seem to make an error. Hopefully I explained correctly
  5. What version, I'm on x9 and there is always times when clicking on an operation does nothing. I have to click another than click the one I want sometimes.
  6. If you mean the tool inspection on the high speed tool paths where you can set distance or time you may need to work on the post. But if you have an m00 with a manual entry. The force tool change will fix that right up
  7. Must be fun loading that big thing into the spindle.
  8. Hit the equal sign to set all3 at once when you make a new plane
  9. Sure, I asked the bossman to email them but if you don't mind ill use it. I don't know when he will get it. Thanks
  10. I had one repeat job where I just drew a line with a retract attached to it sort of like a check mark and then just translated around and use a 3D chain. It was a NASCAR tang plunge and it worked pretty good.
  11. Could this be a cutter comp value error? On a fanuc if you have positive comp more than a radius you will get an alarm with good code. Ex .005 comp with a .004 lead in radius

    Well......

I guess no forum is safe...
  13. We had the master cam guy write it into the post so it will come on on any path that is not a drilling cycle. The matsuuras, we have the parameter set to come on automatically. Their IPC doesn't work unless the fanuc one is on
  14. At my old place we stuck the 49 above the g28zo and it worked fine. Yes prestage would alarm out. The 5.1q0 was always out after the last retract z before the g49. I have also gotten alarms not using g49 before the g5.1 q1 Because your using g49 to home z in the robodrill is probably why you don't need it before turning it on
  15. Yes on the robodrill you would need it above and then before you zero return g49 g53 z0 is what we use
  16. If the machine has it parameter 1604 bit 0 set to 1 will turn it on automatically. On some machines you may need to shut it off for digit tapping.
  17. When he showed us some 5 axis stuff he said that shortening it would make a less precise calculation, but it would make the screen cleaner during backplot. I never mess with it
  18. You may need a software upgrade worst case. We have a feeler with an 18i I think, and it is terrible at high speeds. The next one was a lot better as far as blends and not rounding off corners and machining fast and was an 18 I also. The guy tried to tweak the parameters but said a software upgrade was needed.
