  1. +1 to James Also once I'm deep into mega operations working on many parts in an assembely from every side I then make a back up copy on my HD and Network...
  2. Marshal way back when (Pre internet) My reseller would sigh and say "Nothing beats some Good Schooling" As I called him every other day..
  3. I set Alt . as save and every leap forward in my toolpathing I roll my fingers on those keys I AM IN Control of the SAVING Here !!!
  4. Your readout on the control is set to Machine "From Home or something like that there are a few options" Change it to Full So you can see "Distance to go" Tht will show you where your tool is in Z and how far it has to go according to the program.. IT WILL SAVE YOUR BUTT one day (You have to do this every program as it sets itself back to a default screen)
  5. It's in the Hurco control "Send home during a toolchange" or something close to it. It however DOES NOT send it home at the 1st tool change of the program (But thats usually a centerdrill etc.) Tall tool's that scare me or will bust the toolchanger plexiglass shield Leave as a "Manual tool" in hurcos tool set up..
  6. I'm at three seconds or less. Two different PC's here,I'm good. At a former employer on a Dell Precision Laptop Quad core it was 7 seconds, Vista and then Windows 7. that unit idling, nothing running had 2 gig in the page file
  7. Dave What about the Tool Z offset's ? Thats my hang up, touching all tools off the G54 work piece and then only touching the "Gauge tool" off every work piece and plugging that # in? Spoiled by probes and lasers and Hurco touch screens "Z offset / all tools" Thanks Dave!
  8. If you have the Hurco ISNC option, run your G code ".NC" in that "Editor" not Basic NC. Use "Wear" in MC as your cutter comp setting. To Use cutter comp at the mighty Hurco go into Tools/ offsets/length/Radius Use the draw function to see your neg or positive numbers effects on the toolpath. Length will give you an error and won't run, Go to Radius !the pages look identical. 15 years of Hurcos here, not a single minute in there Conversational editor!?!
  9. Hi Guys I'm new to this controller, Where is the Cycle interupt (Where the head shoots up , spindle turns off so I can change inserts and then hit cycle start to get back where I left off? I see F9 spindle up and F2 spindle off? Is there a Start from Block # option ? Last but not least , where is the distance from home X,Y, locaton stored at ? Thanks! Tony
  10. Hi Guys (keyboard is sticking today please flip the W) I created a ops file with all my favorite toolpaths for a hurco ISNC Now at my new ewployer when I try to access it It says error opening it and while iwporting says wc file does not contain any toolpath ops copatible with your active wachine (DX32) exporting it errors: warning opening c/wcawx4/will/ops/ etc. What do I need to do to pull iwport / export to wy Custow ops file I have carried around with we? Thanks Tony
  11. HURCO fan here, more bang for the buck. Building molds and die's with them for 15 years. Not a single hickup. I miss our precision Hardinge lathe ! Man did that thing Rock. I was pulling my hair out with an Enco !?! and not as bad our Weber 3 jaw.
  12. Hi Brian I live off Warrenville rd. "Recruiters" this week ran an ad "Wheaton Ill $25.00@ hr... I responded, Wheaton! I could ride my son's 20 BMX bike there!...I asked where? Can't say, Send me your resume...o.k. He say's got it,the job is actually in St.Charles O.K....He call's me back and leaves a message "That postion is filled" But I have another... Call me. Pffft Forget it. I was just curious about a would be Job in Wheaton ILL,which never existed.
  13. My guy/source quit (Chicagoland) and started flipping houses!?!
  14. "Viewsheets" in X4, Are worth there weight in Gold ... It's like SW's multiple configurations. I could never go back!
  15. Oldschool,Spark test! grind some of it versus known hard D2. O-1 has a dark orqnge spark. S-7 has a light yellow almost white spark. When all else fails tell the heat treater (FPM,Metals Tech,) to "Run it in Salt' to get it hard. (Horizon won't do it) Good luck
  16. You have to have the Hurco ISNC option. Then you can run all the Standard G code. Your in Hurco Basic NC right now and that's why your getting all the Drilling hassles. Hurco's are Work horses in any Mold Shop! ISNC is a $500.00 option last time I checked. You can peck tap with it too. I'll send you my post if you need it. But you have to have the ISNC option .
  17. I'm in the Ring again as I refused a 1/3 pay cut today...not to mention no Healthcare where I was at...
  18. Our Heidy !Tnc 530's Choke on the oldschool arc filter. So we use the highest setting on the new Smoothing filter (Which is another round of number crunching to go through)and set the Cycle def in the control at .0003 The surface finish looks like a brand new molded part!
  19. CNC apps guy 1 ,has a handle on that control... Do a search..
  20. Rick Playing with this: Fixed my "All black" Screen capture.
  21. Rick my PC must have been the one right behind yours on the production line.. You have to go into MC properties (Task bar / icon /right click) and play with the settings / Modes. When I had the screen capture show up it made verify Black. So I set it back the way it was. and now go into .cfg and turn the geo background White, Get my screen shot, paste it. then turn ny background black again.
  22. Verndog X3's transform toolpaths Verify and Backplot are broken! (They post ok though) You have to go back to X2Mr2 actually...
  23. "The biggest jump in performance for me was going to Windows 7 (32 bit). With the SS drive and Windows 7, Mastercam loads and is ready to go in 7 seconds. A 100mb file will load and be ready to go in another 7 seconds and it puts a smile on my face :-). This is with a quad core Dell Precision laptop. Another nice benefit is it is all silent... No hard drive clicking away". I have the 64 bit precision and like Chris says 54 seconds Then I drag in a couple of MC files I need to work on after the clean install, then it goes up to 2 min.
