  1. Here's the problem...you are trying to replicate a job....do you have the CAM file in front of you? If not, you have no idea how the toolpath was created and what voodoo might have been used to get what the programmer wanted. As such just trying to replicate something you don't know how it was built, it is tricky task as it may not be a straightforward as it may seem on the surface.
  2. Spot on! Many times there is no "Easy" button, especially when you are looking for a specific type of motion output. A good programmer can get any and everything out of the software if he/she is willing to work a little. In my pool, my guys have got to know how to swim in the deep end. Most days they are going to get challenged and if they don't know how to achieve something, I teach them how to get it done. That's what us "old guys" do to pass along the knowledge. and to the OP... You could also offset multiple contours on each side based on the step over you want and without using multi-passes, chain all of them based on the outside to inside cutting you want.
  3. If you look inside the post at all the header info, it should list in there if it is even available with the post you have.... My guess is you probably don't have it with that post.
  4. @GoetzInd thanks again for talking with me last week. We did purchase Vericut simulation & Force Optimization.
  5. You can pick & choose which tools to apply it to...and yes, it can do drilling.
  6. What do you want to call them? I believe we ALL know what I am referring to...
  7. and their "minimum" requirements are a joke for anything much beyond flat 2D wireframe work. As you and I both know, the years are littered with people whose IT departments bought on those "minimum" requirements only to find out it was far too weak to do what they needed. I've never understood the "cheap out buyer" when a CAM station should be considered on par with an engineering workstation level computer. With heavy math computations and graphical viewing, that is exactly what they are at its core.
  8. I've not used an ATi card for 8 years. That said, in my experience they worked, sure but that always had shortcomings. Has it changed? Don't know...I'd be leery if I got a new system with one...
  9. If you're looking to track Rev control...it's not going to do it... All it will do is alert you if a file of the exact same name has been updated since you last opened the Mastercam file...that's it....same name, same location, beyond that, you really need a 3rd party product.
  10. eek! Retired my 4000 years ago...I'd say 3-4 years ago There are days I stress the hell out of my current RTX-4000
  11. and the Geforce answer bites yet another user
  12. Thanks to all, I am really honed in on the Vericut product at this point.
  13. It wasn't actually removing the file, it was dropping it out of the Tracking option...
  14. How would a software that only stores your files, suddenly upgrade a file? Based on that theory, you should never update your Windows program...
  15. Solidworks PDM works can be used that way for CAM files.....and other types as well...Once checked in anytime someone opens it to change it, it has to again go through the check-in process, which includes bumping it's internal Rev level...that is customizable...There is on-going discussion on how we can better control our files as dating with the current date has come with its own set of issues. I am in the process of creating a process for PDMWorks and our 3D printing files, where they will reside in PDMWorks and be subject to version control.
  16. No. it is a component of Solidworks, though it "may" be able to be purchased separately, not sure on it though. There isn't anything that integrates with Mastercam in that way. It would be 3rd party software
  17. Yeah, the delete part I had no knowledge on, I've never had to use it that way. I use it to track PDM vault parts...they're always the same name, they just get checked in and that updates them. @Thee Rickster ™ But a vault type software is more likely the level of functionality you're going to want.
  18. From the Help File NOTE File Tracking is not available for Mill Entry, Lathe Entry or Router Entry. ../../Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gifTracking a file File Tracking can track multiple files. To track these files, they first must be added to the File List in the File Tracking dialog box. To add a file to the list, do the following: Select Track Changes, Tracking Options from the File, Info screen. Select Tracking. Right-click in the File List and select Add. Navigate to the part file you wish to track, select it, and click Open. The selected file is then added to the list, listing the file name and the date it was created. The file is now being tracked for any new changes. ../../Skins/Default/Stylesheets/Images/transparent.gifSetting up Automatic Tracking You can automatically track a file by setting options in the File Tracking dialog box. To set these options, do the following: Select Track Changes, Tracking Options from the File, Info screen. Select Tracking. Select one or more options to check the tracked files when opening a file, starting up Mastercam, or when creating a new file.
  19. AFter setting it....try clicking the "Check current File" instead of going back into options
  20. For a solid, Under File >> Track Changes >> Choose the options Click Tracking in the top right In the window, Right Click >> Add...select your file to track... When you open the Mastercam file it should check for changes
  21. I haven't experienced the problem in quite some time now, so I'll guess it's fixed. Working with CNC and Karlo they discovered a skew that was happening deep in the math....we found that once you created a plane and it was off, there was no fixing it...you literally had to start fresh and start importing all of your toolpaths..
  22. Select all toolpaths, right click >> Renumber tools
  23. Is anyone using the Force Optimization module? I am curious, once you have your machining parameters set, do the resultant changes actually work at the machine? Do you find yourself having to turn things back down? Does it work not only on the screen but in reality at the machine? It is not a cheap module and I want to get some real world thoughts.
  24. Honestly, I couldn't even guess at this point...I cannot say there was, I cannot say there wasn't...all I can say is I don't remember one of that type causing me any problems.
