  1. Bridgeport, that has been an issue in the beta phase and still with the production release. I mentioned it to CNC during a phone conference. It's much worse if you import a 2d drawing from Autocad. I have no clue if CNC is working on the issue.
  2. The enhancements to stock model are impressive! Use the stock model for comparing with a .001" path, tool shape and part tolerance. Use verify to collision check tools is my recommendation till the verify is tweaked.
  3. I pointed that out in a web meeting with CNC. They are aware of the issue and will hopefully tweak those settings before the final release. It is not really usable if your machining in tenths.
  4. X6 is running great on Windows 8. The Mastercam Control Applet does not work, but overall, everything works as it was on Windows 7. I did NOT do anything special with Windows 8 to make it work.
  5. I'm hoping I may have found the issue. After I altered the "stock to leave" box to zero on the local and server default files (for all HST finishing ops), I went back and noticed the the "HST General" stock to leave was at .05". I changed it once again back to zero and so far it has stuck. I'll report back if the problem arises.
  6. I just noticed that I don't have to close X6 and reopen for the issue to reappear. I just hit ramsaver and all the HST toolpaths with stock to leave = zero just changed to .05. Like I said earlier. It's a fresh install on a new workstation without migrating.
  7. Hmm, I have a fresh install of X6 along with the MU2 and MU3 updates and still have the issue.
  8. This has been a bug that has been haunting me since X5. I toolpathed several operations using waterline and raster leaving zero stock. I close the file and open it the next day and the "stock to leave" boxes magically change to .05". I changed ALL op and default files to leave stock at zero and the problem still crops up. Has anyone honestly found a permanent solution?
  9. Thanks for confirming that for me gcode. Sometime this week I will be using that machine in full force.
  10. Has anyone seen this? I want to change a few settings and the control applet for X6 will not open in Windows 8
  11. Neuro, I have sent in a few files demonstrating the same issue as your part. The MU patches never fixed it. It happens only now and then with optirough, but you better keep your eyes open. I wouldn't count on them fixing it. The last two MU releases and past history doesn't give me any confidence whatsoever.
  12. I have not found a way to do that in the horizontal path, but you may do that using surface-rough-pocket and check the facing tab.
  13. Well said K2! I thought the Machine/Control def was an awesome idea. But after using it the last several years starting with X2, I would love to go back to the V9 method and let the post handle many of the parameters. We have 7 different makes of machines here and switching machines can be a pain in the A$$!
  14. Yep Brian, that is the tradeoff. Waiting for the damn verify, but we also saved some loot by reducing the workload on the polisher. I dumped the Quadro Card (fx3500 and fx1800) and installed a GeForce GTX 460 about a year ago. Made a huge difference in the verify speed but not the same as changing the tolerance. Adding arcs to the filter will also dramatically improve the verify speed as you are suggesting.
  15. Brian, I program all of our molds with a .0002" total tol, smoothing settings to best (.00001" cut tolerance). I think your total tolerance is not near tight enough. I will use .002" total tolerance when roughing stock within .002"-.003" I have experimented using a .001"-.002" total tolerance for finishing in the past and had very poor results now and then.
  16. Sorry to say this, but that trick worked for a few hours and now it reared its head again.
  17. Rick, you must select the top "geometry" to drag, which means it will also drag the boundaries along with the drive surfaces. In most of my situations, I may use the same drive surface geometry, but different boundary geometry for several toolpaths. Therefore using this method will overwrite all the boundaries. This method would be very useful if you could drag the drive surface geometry to all the toolpaths WITHOUT messing with the boundaries.
  18. Roger, it will happen on all three methods. Please note, my control defs are on the server.
  19. Same here. I wonder if it has something to do with the control defs getting jacked after an edit. http://www.emasterca...showtopic=68920
  20. If I open the control definition and just hit SAVE without changing any parameters, the control file will change to a .tmp file immediately.
  21. It only happened to me after MU2. The control def is on the network.
  22. Damn, I was dealing with that last THursday and noticed the same thing! All I did was make a change to the control def and it was saved as a .tmp file. I did the same as John and change the extension and all was fine.
