I use a old Valenite handbook and a trig cheat sheet, and just a few of the slide rules you get from the insert manufacturers. Good for a few formulas and insert terminology. MHB is a must. Wish I could still get those. Also kept nearby are the phone numbers for the local pizza joints.

I use a pile of broken, burnt, dull tooling as my reference of "not to do that again speeds and feeds"

I have a TI-83 calculator with a bunch of Shop Math programs that I wrote. The programs are menu driven so it makes it easy to navigate.

 

I am willing to share to anyone that wants a copy.

I had those for my T85, but the batteries went dead and lost everything. They were not written down so if you do not mind sharing I would appericate a copy.

I am not sure if they are compatible with a TI-85, but you can give it try. I do know that they work for TI-83 and TI-84s.

push it til she breaks and back off 10% i find the correct surface feet per minute vs. tool coatings the hardest formula to crack. SFM with technlogy and tool geometry isnt what it used to be. I can say being on the high speed machining and hard millig side of things its incredible to think we can cut heat treated steel in some cases faster with less distortion than soft state. Wait did I just hi-jack, sorry welcome to the forum.
