Looong Helix File

Hey guys,I'm roughing out a c'bore using helix bore. It's a .75 dia, by 1.00 deep. I'm using a .5 endmill. In helix bore, regardless if I have "Output arc moves for helix" checked, it spits out a HUGE file.

What gives? I'm using the latest MPmaster

Do you have helix support turned on in the controlmachine definitions?

Do you have "output arc moves for helixes" checked in your rough/finish param?

Your code is G1 not G3, so its linear code not arcs. Did you pick a point or an arc ? There is a check box for linearize code is that checked on ? Don't know what else right off. Try another MD/CD/Post see if you get the same code.

Set your pitch deeper than .002, more like .050

Its converting your arcs to linear moves, I usually just let this go, No problem for me. Dependiing however on your tolerance setting is how round your hole actually comes out. All my tolerances I set it .0002 generally it creates more xy moves the tighter the tolerance. Like someone has mentioned your post my not be set to output helix arcs.

My Rough pitch is set at .05

 

Helix support is active in all axes

 

I chose an entity when the helix bore selection dialog opened.

 

It's just a 2d arc.

Is the helix output is activated in pst file?

I activated "Support Helix Arc Output" "All Planes" inthe post and it still does it. Could this be an SP1 issue?

can you make a Z2G file and place it on the FTP?

If your using an old post, It may not support the helix option. How old is your post? Anything V8 or older may not support the Helix option.

Sure. How do I create a Z2G?

Mic I always get the helixes in that way when I take the helix bore Toolpath.

For keep simple the main program. I do my Helixes in a subprogram.

I don´t have any problem with disk space or transfering to the CNC machine.

 

For create a Z2G check in Menu-> Help -> Create Zip to Go

Check your control definition.

 

Under tolerances there is a setting for "Minimum change in arc plane for helix". I have mine set at .0001 so it will always spit out G2 or G3 when doing a helix bore.

I could've sworn it did the helix move before. I'm gonn atry a few other things.

In the Help dropdown there is a utility called Zip2go.

It will take your MCX, post Machine and control defs and zip them into a single file.

You can upload that to the ftp and we can try and find the problem.

Hey Gcode. I followed the FTP Upload instructions. I created the Z2G file, saved it on my desktop. I tried dragging it to this window "FTP Listing of /Mastercam_forum/ at www.mastercam-cadcam.com" It just asks if I want to save it to my computer. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

"cadcam/s FTP Site"

double click this

If you are asked for a password use

mastercam

and swiss

then copy and paste your zip2go into

the MCX folder..

what version of Mastercam are you using??

Hey Slyd, can you shed some light on how you're uploading? Here are the instructions that I'm trying to follow

Step by step instructions:

 

-Click on this link to open cadcam's FTP site I DID THIS

 

Bookmark the link or add it to your Favorites list I DID THIS

 

-With another Windows Explorer window open drag your file on to the FTP Explorer window.

THIS ISNT WORKING

-Use a link to your file location in your message, or specify the filename and note that it's on cadcam's FTP site.

-To download a file from the FTP site, right click on the file and select "Copy To Folder..." and then specify the folder to place the file.

 

Gcode. I was not asked for any passwords. I treid copy and paste, nothing. There is no paste option the the MX2 folder where I'm trying to save.

 

I must be missing something really obvious. Hopefully I'll get uploaded soon. Thanks Guys!

In the Internet Explore links on the upper right click

page/Open FTP site in Widows Explorer

you may be asked to log in at this point..

Once it opens, you can copy and paste

just like you usually do
