  3. I don't know about anyone else but I use toolpath groups.... Each tool listed in a group of the operations that the tool is used in. I never have to wonder

  6. Lathe is very easy, don't make it complicated by messing with those. Only thing I try to make sure is that the radius of the tool in MC matches the radius of the tool on the machine.

  8. I use the Carmex Thread MIll wizard This thread mill wizard rocks!!!! They call their line of Left hand thread mill cutters Hard Cut and they work very well I just finished 2 big titanium rings that are the interface between a satellite and the rocket putting it into orbit These parts had about 200 hours each in VTL time when I got them and a team on standby waiting to mount the satellite to the rocket for a launch this summer. I did NOT want to screw these parts up. They each had about 60 M4 x 7 blind holes in them. I used Carmex Hard Cuts and got them all done with no issues. That was stressful work.

  9. I'll try and write up some information regarding how Feeds are calculated, and outline some best practices when it comes to: Using and manipulating Format Statements Setting initial "Format Assignments" to Variables Using the "newfs" Function to assign a new Format to a Variable; "on-the-fly" Restoring the "default" Format, and why that is important "Where" Feed values are calculated in the Post "How" to override when necessary That will have to wait until I'm not on the clock though...

  10. Would be nice if someone wrote a tutorial in the post section on how to implement the tool inspection in to the post

  11. Thanks everyone. All good stuff here. A little more background. All 4 instances that I have been directly involved in, the toolpaths were high speed tool paths over 100 IPM. 2 from Mastercaam and 2 from Unigraphics back in the 90's. The two older events were on a Mori with 11M and a new Makino with 16i. Scrapped 2 very expensive mold cores. Of course the programmer (me) got blamed. Fast forward about 20 years, I have a high stake in solving this. These last two events, one was a Doosan with an Oi control and the other is an older Doosan with a 21i control. Other than the 16i, these aren't controls you would normally associate with good high speed machining performance. The latest customer states he can run this program safely on a machine with G05.1 turned on. The offending machine, 21i, has no advanced look ahead options. Last year I reposted a customers offending operation in my MX setup, sent it to him and it ran fine for him. But I still don't think it is entirely a Mastercam issue. I agree with the above about setting the tolerances too low and allowing such small arcs. Attached are two files. The offending G-Code file and a pic of the resulting part. Thanks All, I appreciate the help, Paul 2D HIGHSPEED FOR DOOSAN (2).zip 2D-High Speed.zip
