  1. WOW!!! Short sighted ,to say the least. If Vericut prevents just 1 damaging crash, it will have already paid for itself. IMO, worst kind of shop, invest in only 75% of what you need and expect 125% out of it. Good Luck!!!
  2. X4? Change your color scheme to 16 bit instead of 32
  3. select all ops, right click edit selected operation change nc file name repost
  4. Not trying to be harsh here, it may come out that way. Reading this, knowing what endmills are capable of doing is one thing but I am reading by the original poster and intrinsic lack of knowledge of "how" to cut metal more than anything else. Sure there are some great tools out there but with aluminum any good sharp tool utilized properly is going to yield acceptable results.
  5. With 2D highspeed AFAIK, you cannot get that to change
  6. There are 2 way to select a point. If there is a circle on the screen you can select the point that is the center of the circle, in this method, the diameter is inherited. If there is not circle and you simply select a point, you must add the value of the circle diameter on the cut parameters.
  7. look under roughing and finishing Check what you actually selected, you likely didn't get the piece of geometry you thought you did or you have your diameter set incorrect
  8. Config is sticking on my setup. On the post setting are you changing it in the control def or in the config. Each control def will override the config setting
  9. I would like to see better graphics support, ie, SLI and or Cuda, way better file management, the file managing database is HORRID, file size is a big PITA becasue of it, true x64 support. Those are just 3 things things that need to be address way before keystrokes. and there are MANY others You like V9 so much, go back to it. You can always use your X4 as a shiny new translator. As someone stated earlier, I wouldn't even consider a job running V9. Too each their own but there are WAYYY bigger fish to fry in this package.
  10. I've bumped my stl tolerance up to .128 and quality down to the lowest and I still crash and can't load stls. I have given up on that, verify is a different issue, the original question was instability. and it's still a big yes
  11. Currently working on a file with 28 operations and 382 megs in size. Between random crashes, Unhandled Exception crashes, Memory Allocation errors, Verify Crashes, massive lag time, it is amazing I have any hair left and that I have nearly completed this job. It almost makes me pine for my days with UG. Another set of issues but I could this without fighting it so darn much.
  12. Thanks Jarrett, We've used the G76 to do this, I don't think I can get them to change their ways. Gonna have to figure out how to get the correct coding out of the software.
  13. Jarrett, Thanks for the response. The problem I see is we have coded these for a period of time and the machines, even the manual seems to call that on an external for example, the Major or ending diameter is what should be output on the G76 line. Mastercam no matter what settings, I can not get this to output the way I Need to see it..
  14. quote: could it be my card is not compatible?? ding, ding, ding, we have a winner
  15. Is is me, or does Mastercam have trouble outputting correct code for an API thread? I searched and only found one thread where someone mentioned the trouble and asked if anyone else had a solution. Looking at the Fanuc manuals it is requesting different information than the current thread cycles puts out. Is there anyone cutting API threads using Mastercam?
  16. I don't "believe" X3 is supported in Windows 7 That of course doesn't mean it won't run but the performance may not be as desired.
  17. Really makes me wonder how some people actually get things done worrying about the minutia.
  18. While it appears X4 MU2 is more stable, there are just a ton of little things that are wrong and make using the version quite frustrating at times. Ram Saver Screen Regenerate Display list Tool Tip bug There are just so many little things wrong, that with a product as mature as X4 "should" be, it just really hard for the end user. Sure, it works, I can get the job done but it seems like we're fighting the software issues more and more instead of less and less. JM2C
  19. Sorry I don't think I can be much help here but this is why, like posts, backing up along the way is so important.
  20. Have you checked with your reseller? Probably your best bet.
  21. I had a question come up today and while I don't agree with it, I have been asked. Is it possible to have G54 as TOP and output as A0 G55 as front and output as A0 G56 as bottom and output as A0? The work offset numbers are arbitrary, it is the A) I am working on. If I set WCS and Planes equal I don't get A0 except on the first path. Was I clear enough on that?
  22. quote: what benefit would an .stl file be for MasterCam In my opinion, none Mastercam makes horrible stl files so using them as stock is spotty at best and difficult once the size and complexity grow. Again, sure you can run surface paths over it but what good is that if you have 2D features that need machining. Just a bad idea
  23. You don't need Admin rights. You do however need full read/write ability to the Mastercam directory and any other directory you are working within.
