  1. Awesome, thanks for showing that. Great workaround!! After your G43 H## line, it reads G65 P9510 Z2. Does that mean the probe is "protected" from tool change position down to 2.0? If so, I like that. Sorry I've only been using a probe for about a year and in-process probing a few months max, so I'm still an amateur. and it's been the only spindle probe in my shop so I've got no one to go to besides the internet lol. I've always kind of strayed away from macro programming/modifying posts/things of that nature because it was confusing and I'm at a tipping point in my career where I'm definitely having to give in to progress further now
  2. I'll probably go the manual entry route when it comes to probing, I do like leon's workaround method (at least my limited understanding of it at the moment heh). But I did get the whole fusion package with our camplete so I'll keep that in mind lol I really want to dive in on the CAMplete side of things because that's where my knowledge lacks the most, but sadly I've been just too busy on other jobs + drawing up workholding options like D.I.Y. tombstones for both the 330 and MAM (been fun but definitely takes some time) guess I can't worry too much about programs + getting them to run if we have no way to hold parts + tools
  3. Yes I am very curious of what your findings will be!
  4. wow, that's wild! Most of my work is high mix low volume so tbh I'm not usually worrying about a few extra rapids here or there. My longest cycle time is like 2hr 45 min and that's on a small tombstone. A part of me is slightly excited about getting some higher quantities to focus on the process and get that cycle time down. Usually I'm running 25 parts while also programming the next job for the machine so I can't be bothered too too much to just watch the machine run and try to optimize. bad xxxx job though!
  5. Thanks, I have a lot to learn!! lots going over my head haha but I'll get there eventually
  6. you are the man I would be okay with something like that. Thank you leon, I may recommend that if the AE has no better idea.
  7. whhhaaaaaat? That makes me sad I love CIMCO for probing. Next week I'm finally getting training with an AE on the machines, I have so many questions lol. I am working from home right now so I will have to get back with you next week on that. Appreciate the help on all of this
  8. @cncappsjames ooooh PQI finished up training this morning and is already flown out of Texas... At least I do have CIMCO probing for mastercam so that should make in-process probing pretty simple. I have already reached out to CIMCO about getting the updated renishaw routines for PQI + Matsuura collaboration. Good to know though that the option is there for the "cycle time upgrade" you were speaking about.
  9. I've heard good things. Will be interesting I'm sure using a heidenhain! I can't wait to hear how you like it
  10. Now you've got me curious,... Our MAM has a build date of 2021-5, and the MX-330 is 2020-08. Over the past week or two we've had a guy from FANUC come and update both machines, and now PQI is here setting up all the Renishaw goodies.. Is there an easy way to tell if that cycle time reduction spec was included?
  11. I just pulled some super slick lookin' 15-5 stainless rocket engine parts off my UMC ! Now I'll just be able to do them in half the time on the mx-330 lol
  12. When I am programming from home, just grabbing files off the VPN/network is slow, I can't imagine actually trying to run mastercam through it. My heart goes out to you lol
  13. just a few years ago we had x7/x9 still on our PC's haha Now I only have back to 2021
  14. How are you driving the unified toolpath? what tool? what are your machining geometries + what is your cut pattern? There are sections that look a little funky, so you may need a mixture of multiple toolpaths at the minimum and possibly multiple finish tools depending. Really hard to tell without a file though, sorry.
  15. you got this! I don't know what kind of parts/customers y'all have but I'll at least tell you this: 99% of my 5axis parts,.. 95+% of the machining is done in 3+2 haha! I'm still relatively new to multiaxis, about 2 years. but long story short it's really not all that crazy different from what you're used to.
  16. @Aaron EberhardThank you, easily understood! When I'm zoomed in I just need to keep the mouse on the wireframe before hitting the middle mouse button.
  17. wait,... You can set a rotation position? lol guess you learn something new every day! can't wait to try it, always bothered me when I was zoomed in on wireframe with no solid model in sight trying to rotate out into the abyss
  18. I will be patiently awaiting I have used transform to rotate toolpaths around a tombstone with B in 90 deg increments, but that was using dynamic work offsets so everything is G54 / G254 My workflow is usually a single part at a time so it's rare I transform toolpaths, but I should be doing it much more often in the future.
  19. doing my excited dance,... coworker sent me these today as the MAM is getting moved into the shop
  20. I definitely understand that. The way I see it is like this: In my shop, I am currently the only multiaxis mill programmer/set-up guy... (for now) It's already cumbersome dialing in new programs running back and forth from the production floor to the office, or writing notes to myself to take into the office,.. It would be so much easier to be standing at the machine control, while also being able to make modifications to programs. Not to mention I could have all tool libraries + files local on the laptop which seems like it could help with my slow-down grabbing files from the network server. It's been not the biggest issue, but today we're having a 15pallet 5axis mill and another 10pallet 5axis mill moved into the shop.... so now that I'll be at the helm of 3 different machines while trying to feed them all new programs, these time wasting things like walking back and forth and waiting for files to regen/open... really starting to see how it can add up. Of course we'll run tombstones on some pallets so we can do simple 3axis jobs in larger quantities, but I'll still be doing most the heavy lifting if I had to guess... Boss man told my manager he's keeping his eye out for a multiaxis programmer but every time we get a new employee who is "supposedly some expert" they ALWAYS seem to fall super short of what they claim their capabilities are,.. it's quite sad. Wouldn't you rather under-sell yourself and come in and surprise people and blow expectations? idk haha sorry about going off on a tangent there. I appreciate the input, looks like a nice machine. I am also definitely going to be getting a nice cooling system that I'll always use, and have no problem with leaving it plugged in to power while in use. I was building some "dream setups" P.C.'s on BOXX.com and it's crazy how easy it is to spill over 10k in cost, so $2,500 is looking like a steal lol
  21. I pitched a new laptop to my boss yesterday haha! Currently I'm rocking a PC at work and a PC at home so I feel like it's worth the extra $$ to buy once/cry once. One of our new large aerospace customers was inquiring about cyber security so we are kind of re-doing that whole aspect at our shop, and he told me they actually prefer a laptop over PC for security reasons (I have no idea why, but sounds like good news to me lol) I've had some emails with aaron on laptops but I am curious if anyone else is rocking one? any specs/recommendations would be appreciated. It's horrifying sometimes how long stuff takes. My current setup stands: @home: Intel xeon cpu e5-1650 v4 @ 3.6GHz, 64GB ram, with NVIDIA Quadro M4000 graphics card @work: Intel xeon cpu e5-1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz, 65.6GB ram, with NVIDIA Quadro M5000 graphics card Sometimes it takes a minute to grab a new tool or up to 3 min just to open the "Holders" section in my tool list when I'm at home, but I suspect that may have something to do with my tool library being located on a network and non-locally?
  22. Do you have advanced display on? I see some coworkers programming without advanced display,... I have no idea why you wouldn't want to have it turned on.. insane people lol.
