  1. Our Campost guru said he was told by ICam that MC cut them off. Like I said, I don't know if this is true or not. Hence the post. Is anyone using campost? I know it is VERY expensive and probably only large corps have it.
  2. Thad, Yes it is. Mastercam used to be partnered with campost (maybe they still are and our UG guys are pullin' my leg). I don't know. We are looking to run the NCI (from MC, UG, ProE, etc.) files through the same posts.
  3. Thanks for the info. Matt. What was your tolerence? How much distortion did you get when the water froze?
  4. Is anyone using Mastercam with Campost? If so, how successful is it with X2? Our UG guys on the production side have been using it for a while. I've been looking into using it for MC to run the same machines. We have the macros for V9, but had to do a lot of mods to get what we needed for our 6 axis mill. Our Campost guru (programs in UG) said he was told they stopped supporting MC at V9. Is this true? What experience have y'all had with X2 and Campost? Thanks in advance for your input.
  5. To repeat what Chris said: quote: wcs doesn't work with latheDon't bother.
  6. Do a search. There are plenty of threads to read through.
  7. What John said is the most accurate. a less accurate way but quicker is the sillouette boundary c-hook. Or so guys will run a toolpath and save it as geo. HTH
  8. Troy's way will work fine. I just don't like setting my TLO's to the center of the radius. To me it's just another variable that makes it easier to crash. I would prefer the surface project method. HTH
  9. HT, That won't help with gouging the vertical walls.
  10. Randy, I have tried the same thing. It would make an excellent inhancement.
  11. Ocean, It will undercut as u go vertical. it is not doing the trig to keep the tool tangent to the curve. It is just looking at a point on the tip.
  12. Use area clearance and set containment boundary to inside.

    5-AXIS

I have to agree with Ahlvik. They have given me cleaner toopathes with greater control. From what I have seen the learning curve is easier than with the old pathes. I recommended to two to guys here wanting to learn 5X to pick a specific toolpath that will get them close to what they want. This narrows down the number of fields to fill in at first. IF they need to tweak it more they can then hit the advanced button and have full control. HTH
  14. As Greg said, I would check your planes and axises first. But if those are correct, Tell us a little more about which post you are using. What was the original version? Is it based on a MPLFAN, MPL_EZ, etc.? Are you using Version 9 with this post and getting good code? If you are than the mapping is probably wrong. http://www.emastercam.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...ic;f=1;t=019961 I have had some posts not update properly. Especially if it is originally an 8 or older. HTH
  15. We have ICAM here and you are right, it is VERY expensive. Our UG guys use it on the production side. I was told MC quit working with them around v9. I would expect less and less support with it concerning MC.
  16. Thanks Pete! Really appreciate it.
  17. I'm leaving for the day. I'll be able to access the ftp site tommorow (out of the plant). If possible I would just use rolldie. If you have to have a solid, without looking at it I would say you will have to lay it out flat and use xform roll and cut a solid. HTH to get ya started. you can do searches for both on the forum.
  18. We have been running 64 bit dual processors on two systems for some time now. while we don't get the full advantage of these systems...yet . We haven't had any issues running MC.
  19. You should be able to input the .250 and it will work just fine. The next time u open the parameters window and look it will then read .269. you don't have to manually input the .269.
  20. Does it still have 2gig? Or did some of it walk away?
  21. Cool. Just got the upgrade last week and haven't used the roll function yet since.
  22. You will have to use a different path if you want to scrub the 2 fillets.
  23. you didnt need the containment boundary though. also you have to check the "limit # of offsets to" in order to input the reference tool dia and then it will calc the # of offsets. I input .250 and it calculated 8 passes. in order for the math to be balanced it now has .269 for the reference tool dia.. The stepover and scallop height stayed the same.
  24. in order for pencil to work it needs to see 2 tangent points that the radius of the ball will touch. The only place it will work on the top of your model (haven't looked at the bottom yet) is around the lettering. the fillets on the model are bigger than the tool and it ignores the 90 degree areas with vertical walls. When you get my email, you will notice i used the whole solid for drive and didn't use any containment boundaries or check surfaces.
  25. That's good to here. I am getting ready to order a custom HP from Costco based on the dv9000t series. I will save about $350 with better warranty and if it doesn't work the way I want, I have 6 mo. to take it back no questions asked.
