  1. quote: DUH!!! This said after the guy edits his post to include the words "Home Position" after Tool change position. I ain't sayin' I'm just sayin'
  2. quote: This is the Tool Change Position On my Anilam post/machine def this is controlled by the home position swith in the toolpath dialog window.
  3. quote: just wondering how you adjust the speed and feed when parting off? I mean slow everything down at the end so the part doesn't go flying. I just G96 the speed and use sub-spindle support to pick off on the fly. You guys don't do this too???
  4. Jax, I went through the EXACT same issues you are going through. You basically purchased a post for a TNC530i instead of a TNC430. I'm post savvy enough to make the simple changes/formats myself but In-House does bin most of the good stuff. In a way I can't blame them because they are protecting their IP but I personally bought the post to learn how MP handles the kinematic math and the spatial rotation logic.... all of which are in binary. I really haven't learned anything other than the guys at In-House are some really smart/cool dudes! (Ivan is da' man!) My post works perfectly now but it did take a good bit of work on my end and a few emails back and forth with my reseller and In-House to straighten out the bin. If I can help you with anything that doesn't involve the binary I'd be more than glad to talk.... just shoot me an email. Good luck! Josh
  5. Depending on the port shape I like using Surf Rough Pocket with a few different views to rough the entire port. What type of port shape? Is it more of a straight forward intake/exhaust (GM, Ford, etc.) or is it something complex like a funky ruled/lofted surface?
  6. Mold Plus is a great to for designing Trodes. I did a demo and was really impressed. We don't do enough trode design to warrant spending the $ for it so I do my designs in ProEngineer. Depending on the accuracy you need, the spark gap is critical. Over machining usually works but sometimes you run into issues especially on surface machining with negative stock on drive surfs. Be very careful when selecting check surfs. HTH Josh
  7. I usually select the geometry in the plane I want to machine in. You can set your planes after you begin the toolpath dialog page but be careful... you may have to reselect your depths.
  8. Do you have "Extend Countour to Stock" checked?
  9. 5 Axis Curve with 4 Axis output should do the trick.
  10. Scott nailed it! I do this all of the time but I typically engrave on the face of a round part and engrave around an arc. If your post is setup with G112 (Fanuc) then this will work great and not take up huge amounts of code.
  11. Mic nailed it. Just keep in mind that M130 is not a Modal command.
  12. quote: do your operators have networked PCs? Mine do.... please continue
  13. +1000 to the In-House Post. I bought it and haven't looked back since. All of the rotation cycles (Cycle 19, Spatial, M128, etc.) are golden in there post.
  14. We have a Hardinge/Bridgeport XR 600 5AX at the Techinical College I teach at. Super Solid machine! Heidenhain TNC530i control, 15,000 RPM standard and can handle heavy-highspeed cuts.
  15. Top/Front here as well. One of my customers has elaborate fixtures/tooling that IMO looks better by using Top/Front. You could program it either way but I prefer to look at the file in MC as I would look at the part/fixtures on the machine.
  16. Right click on the toolpath that you want to change - Select the Toolpath Editor (usually at the bottom of the list) - you can graphically change several parameters (i.e. feedrate). Just scroll through the position points and adjust what you want. Hope this helps, Josh
  17. JP had the answer! That is much easier! Thanks Yoda... I mean JP!
  18. That worked like a charm! Thanks for the help Dave! Your not not as much of a xxxxbag as everyone says you are!
  19. Hey guys, Last night I was opening old version 9 Files in X3 when I got this alarm: Is there a C-hook or utility to turn the coolant on for all the toolpaths in a group? Thanks in advance! Josh

    3D arc

Can you draw the arc with 3 points? I just tried it and it worked.
