  1. Amazingly enough ,Yes. I have a buddy that is in the dark ages and is still running Mastercam ver 4 , which will still convert GEO files, and he has a 5 1/4 floppy on his computer . I can take it from there and put it into whatever version you want. Send me an e-mail if you are interested.
  2. I wrote the post for ver 4 originally. It has been updated for every ver sence then. It should work with ver 7 - 8 - & 9 as is without any modifications. I don't think it will work on ver 4 - 5 - 6 anymore without some fixing. Hope you find it usefull. As to the text it adds, this is becouse we have three different machines and post to go with. It makes it easy to see at a glance what post I'm on.
  3. I personaly think the number of posts you've made is bull****. If you have a valid question post it. If you have a valid answer post it. I'm here to learn more and hopefuly help others when I can. If you read this forum on a regular basis then you know who can help and who is blowing smoke.
  4. Mill Man That was my upload to the FTP site. I inadvertently left out the .psb file. Sorry about that. Download the file fadalsubroutine.zip on the FTP site. It's an updated version of the other post and does not need the .psb file so you can edit it if you like. It will not put line numbers in order, so be sure to renumber the file before runing it on the mill. Again I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Watch it close at first. I don't know of any bugs in it, but you my do somthing different then I do and find somthing.
  5. Check out http://www.logotypes.ru You will should find what you want there.
  6. For multiple directorys I use a program called RenameWiz http://www.renamewiz.com Cost is $20. It works great. There are other programs out there like this. Can't remember the names right now. Brain Fart you no.
  7. Dave, Read FTP Upload Instructions at the top of the main page on this forum
  8. Read the mcview2.hlp file in your mcam9 directory. It tells all about this. The following is the text portion of the file: MCView2 The MCView2 file viewer is used to preview Mastercam part files. Mastercam Viewer Installation: During Setup, Mastercam attempts to register the necessary DLLs for the Mastercam viewer. If, for some reason, it fails to register automatically, you can register the DLLs manually. To install Mastercam’s Viewer utility, you must register three DLL files. In order to register these DLLs, you will need to execute a program called CNCREG.EXE which you can open by choosing Start, Programs, Mastercam, CNCReg. Once CNCREG is launched, choose the ActiveX/DLL Components dialog box tab. Use the tree directory to navigate to the folder where Mastercam is installed. In this folder, select ATL.DLL, select the Register Control radio button, and choose the Apply button at the bottom of the dialog box. See the following graphic for an example of the dialog box. Note: You must register ATL.DLL first. Repeat the procedure for MCVIEW.DLL or MCVIEW2.DLL (one of these files will be present on your system). Windows 95, 98, and ME systems will have MCVIEW.DLL. Windows NT and 2000 systems will have MCVIEW2.DLL. Once you have installed these three DLLs, you will be able to view a Mastercam part file bitmap using the right mouse button menu in Windows Explorer. Usage: Start Windows explorer. Right click the mouse on the mastercam part file you would like to preview. A pop-up menu will appear that contains the ‘Quick View’ option. Select this option. MCView2 will preview the selected geometry file. Menu: File, Open Geometry File – this option will open the displayed geometry file within Mastercam. File, Open Geometry File with – this option is used to specify the program to use to open the file. Type a new program name and press Enter. Or, press Esc to cancel. File, Save as BMP – this option saves the Mastercam part file as a .BMP file. File, Exit – this option will end your file viewer session. View, Toolbar – toggle display of the toolbar. View, Status bar – toggle display of the status bar. Toolbar Buttons: Open – same as File, Open Geometry File. Help – displays this help file. Viewing another geometry file: To view another geometry file, use the mouse to select the file in Windows Explorer. Now, drag and drop it onto the MCView2 viewer. NOTE: 1. You cannot edit geometry files within the MCView2 viewer. 2. To view the file descriptor, right click in Windows Explorer and select the ‘properties’ option.
  9. Jim, Thanks for the samples. I wil try to add this to my post. Kenneth, I emailed you the post. Let me know what you think. Perfecseal, Excelent advice about the machines. I will contact my dealer about updateing the chips. I still want to fix my post to number right. Its the principle of it all you know.
  10. I would like to share this post with other Fadal users. It has been 10 Years in development. I've fixed, added, updated, fought with, hated, had fun with, pulled my hair out over (I'm now bald), and just plain cussed it sense ver 4 of Mastercam. It outputs a program using Fadal subroutines instead of subprograms and prompts for the number of fixture offsets (E1 - E24) that you want. It also supports Fadal canned cycles L94xx to L99xx in drill cycles. It is now designed to support the features of Mastercam v9. The one problem I've had sense I first wrote this mess is the line numbers are out of order in the finial output of the NC file. You must renumber the program before you can run it on the mill. (If anyone knows how or is willing to try to fix this, please let me know.) Other then this it is a very sound post. Anyway its been an excellent learning experience and I hope of some benefit to other MC users. The file is called fadalsubroutine.zip, it has been uploaded to the FTP site. It can be found in the Text_&_post_files_&_misc directory. As a finial note, Thanks to all involved with this forum. It's a great place to learn and share about MC.
  11. I stumbled across this last night and remembered someone was looking for this. Its a Chinese true type font. I uploaded it to the FTP site under unspecifed_uploads. Its called chgene1.ttf Hope this will help with what you want to do.
  12. TopNotch c-hooks from 4D Engineering. http://www.mastercam.co.uk/ You can download a demo from there Web site. I havn't use it so I can't tell you much.
  13. Lame questions are always forgiven on Monday mornings. Let me know if the post works ok for you. I forgot to tell you that its set up to program from the bottom in Mastercam (looks more like the way the Trak lathe works). You have to set your tools in the bottom turret in Mastercam. The post will take care of all the conversions from neg X to positive X. [ 03-25-2002, 09:27 PM: Message edited by: Carl Vallance ]
  14. First the Trak LX2 will run from a modified Fanuc 6T format. See your Cad/Cam Interface Manual that came with your lathe. I've uploaded a post I wrote for the LX3 to the FTP site. It will also work fine on the LX2. It's in the Text & Post Files directory. Hope it is a help to you.
  15. Dave is right. Its a pain to do. I have a post for Fadals that I patched together from some other posts that will do what you want. I put it on the ftp site under text & post files. Its named fadalsub.zip. The one thing I have never gotten it to do right is number the file properly. You will have to renumber the NC file after posting to have it work in a Fadal. Other then this little bug it works great. Hope it works well for you. P.S. When it askes for # of fixtures it will output E1 for 1, E1 and E2 for 2, E1 E2 and E3 for 3 etc.
  16. Zero Start with a new drawing before you have turned shading on. It won't be grayed out then.
  17. There's one on the FTP site already. Under MC8 filesRobby GMHarley.mc8
  18. The Following link tells how to set an image as wallpaper. http://www.emastercam.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...ic&f=1&t=000444
  19. I put a copy of the Chevrolet logo on the ftp site. Its in the MC8 directory under the name of Chevrolet_logo.mc8. If anyone ever needs a logo from a major company check out this web site. http://www.logotypes.ru/default_e.asp They have logos for most major companies in Adobe Illustator format. Its easy to export them from Illustartor or Corel Draw to a dxf file. Then into mastercam. I do a lot of engravings in molds and have found many of the logos I need here.
  20. Roger, I downloaded your MILL.SET file. Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  21. Use high speed tools 2 flute. For 1/2 inch dia I use speed of 425 fpm and chip load of .003. Listen to Keith this is good advice.
  22. When creating geometric text using pre-defined letter files,(Block,Box,Roman,Slant) is there anyway to save a different letter spacing then the default that comes up. I need a little more spacing for the engraving that my customer wants and I get tired of having to change this every time I engrave something.
  23. Check out the following link. It covers this subject. http://www.eMastercam.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000741.html ------------------ Val
  24. Check out the file named mlicense.txt in the main Matercam folder on your computer. The following is a quote from that file. Note the non-transferable license part. ("CNC") a Connecticut corporation with its principal place of business at 671 Old Post Rd., Tolland, Connecticut, 06084 hereby grants to you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license (the "License") to use this software program (the "Program") and any accompanying documentation (the "Documentation") solely for your internal business purposes and solely in conjunction with the accompanying "Security Mechanism, which shall mean any hardware or software device, method, scheme or other security measure provided by CNC or CNC's supplier to allow a user to access the Program.
