Hey guys, Loaded X5 the other day and lost my Arc multi edit. I tried downloading the one off of CNC website and it is in .exe format and my computer will not let me install it do to my user rights. Can someone extract the C-hook DLL and the .ft file and send them to me? I don't wish to bug our IT again. What is stopping CNC from just including this with all of the other C-hooks? I checked supermans suggestion and it was already set to no repositioning. Curiously this morning I used alt Z with the mouse on the correct monitor and it popped up in the correct place. So then I shut X5 down and tried it again using the task bar and now it pops up in the right spot every time. Thanks Everyone, Kevin C.

Hey gents minor issue since I upgraded to X5 yesterday. My level manager keeps popping up in the default location not where I put it. Every time I open up X5 it defaults back to the original spot. The ops manager does not do this. I did create a new config file when I started X5 rather than try to bring in the old one. I have also saved my toolbar states? What gives? Any help would be awesome. Thanks Neurosis, I was able to improve what I was getting somewhat with that video. I still wish we had more control over where it plunges from when doing core passes.

Please see the attached file. The red wire is what I want to cut the black is the stock material. I would like to plunge straight down at the point and dynamic mill this pocket out. gcode, I have never messed with the attribute button down on the status bar until you asked that question. So I clicked on the attributes button and a dialog box comes up down at the bottom of that box by the green check mark there is a box labeled EA Mgr and it is unchecked? I also in the config file have the "Use Group and Result color in Xform" unchecked. This is in X4MU3, I have not upgraded to X5 yet. I just tried it yesterday I wanted to copy a bunch of vises that were multicolored from one level to another and they all came out one color. Thanks, Kevin C.

I like the new copy and paste levels from the levels manager but it always changes all of your copied geometry to what ever your system color is at that time. Very annoying! Which makes this function almost worthless to me.

Make sure you do mesh instead of lines. Lines takes forever if it is a large STL. How many megs is your STL?

I am betting the back date the maint date to at least July or August. You should definitely be OK Superman.

I hit the 1 minute mark exactly this morning overclocked to 4.1 GHZ. Watching my task manager my processor use never went over 17% when running the benchmark. It also never used more than the 6 of the 12 cores? To the guys that are under a minute on the benchmark, how do you get it to use more of resources when processing? I have the affinity set for mastercam to use all 12 cores in the task manager. I also have 12 gigs of ram and when using mastercam it never used slightly over 2?

Plus the more stuff you can have showing on your screen at all times, like web browser e-mail level and ops manager plus still have a whole screen leftover for your graphics. Can't do all of that with one 27" or even a 110".

Colin has it exactly correct pixels is what matters most. I haven't seen too many single monitors out there that can match the pixel count of dual 22 or 24 in monitors. I have hooked my computer up to my home theatre projector at 110" and while it looks cool as hell to see parts at full size or bigger my projector maxes out at 1920X1080P which is only half of the pixels of a couple of good duals.

Check your filter settings. It is probably not on at all.

I ended up getting my 3800 from compeve.com. They had it for 674.00 and after talking to the guy on the phone I decided to order from them. They shipped it out within an hour or so of me odering it. I should get it today.

That is a very good price on the 3800. I just read a review about that one last night. It said it was just a hair away from being as good as the 4800. I think I am going to use it in my new build for home.

Sandybar, You are not alone, I use this toolpath quite a bit for clearing pockets and I would say this happens roughly 5-10% of the time. Luckily I have vericut where I work and it has never made it to the machine. I have not been able to track down an exact cause for it yet but most of the times I go in and tweak the arc filter settings a couple of times and it goes away. It seems like it wants to swing a arc the wrong direction. If I didn't have reliable g-code verification (which it sounds like you do not) I would not run this toolpath. I do think it still goes back to the arc filter. Wish CNC could figure this one out. I think this should show up in a generic g-code backplotter, you should try and get a hold of at least a basic one. Kevin C.

Hey Motor, Would a pair of those Zeons be a big upgrade over just on of the 980X's. I notice their clock speed is lower, but if you could double the amount of threads I assume it would still be much faster than the single processor?

I have been looking at the i7 980X extreme. Which is the 6 core i7 with 12MB of cache! At 1k just for that processor I am not sure I can swing that system with my Wife. I am looking at going with win7 64 bit with 12 gig of ram and a solid state hard drive and a Quadro FX 3800 video card. Currently this setup would run about 2700.00 at newegg but I bet it would run up there with some of the 5k systems on dells website.

Jim, What about a standalone version of Mastercam that supports 64 Bit? Is that coming soon?

Can you not use the selection mask via depth?

Smit, Did you try right clicking on the operation- edit selected operations- and the reverse toolpath? It will lock the toolpath but it should work.

Check your filter setting too. If possible open up your tolerances some.
