  1. I always use wear as well. Even if you use a linear lead MC will sometimes try to lead on an arc if leadin gouge check is turned on. If I am working on a small hole with a large tool I turn gouge check off just to verify that the toolpath does not violate the chain. Then turn gouge check back on before posting.
  2. In case anyone else is interested. AS4395b is the drawing of the part dealing with the dimensions and tolerances. AS4875 covers the materials and material properties of the part. AS4875 is the same as MIL-F-5509 as applicable to straight threaded boss or flanged fittings except for updated materials and process specifications and industry coordinated general improvements.
  3. Does anyone know what the differences are between these two specs? I need the spec that replaces MS33656(MIL-F-5509) and am getting some conflicting information from my customer. Stupid prints form the 50's. Thanks,
  4. Check MSC or McMaster Carr.
  5. I have machined helicoil bolts in the past, worked great.
  6. We have two seat here (7 man shop). I have run it for 8-9 years and have been happy with it. We use if for quoting, outside service RFQs, routing, material/hardware purchasing, material lot tracking and shipping/receiving. We use a second product that integrates with JobBoss for Quality control (NC, CAR, Customer concerns, inspection reports) (JobBoss does offer their own product now). We are working on using it for total inventory control and total live data collection to help with delivery scheduling (shorten delivery time less WIP), but trying to beat it in to everyones head that the just cant cut material anymore and have to log time is a challenge (garbage in garbage out). Like any software there are great points and parts that you think should work differently, some caused by user error and some by software design. JobBoss offered this year an unlimited training program. I paid one flat fee and anyone from my shop can sign up for any of the instructor lead online interactive training sessions usually 2-4 hours a day 1 - 3 days long. Our shop has taken about three times more in value of classes than what we paid up front. Classes ranging from basic software operation to advanced Crystal reporting. The biggest hurtle we faced was getting our material entered in in a consistent manor. I eventually made an excel spread sheet that uses drop down boxes to enter material parameters and then you just have to copy and past into JobBoss to create the new material. I wish I would have made it when I started. I talked to JobBoss and they told me that they have an aggressive trade-in program, each case is different, but I was informed that it is usually up to 50% off the cost of the software. JobBoss also has a number of free webinars several times per month. ToolMan184 I have a contact number/email about the trade in program if you would like me to send it to you. If you have any specific questions contact me and I will do my best to answer them. I may sound like I am in sales, but I assure you this is an unpaid testimonial.
  7. Best thing you could do is install a DI water system. We have a very high dissolved solids content in our well water. We used run Blasocut 2000 Universal and would get a raggy layer that looked like a shredded paper towel mixed with the way oil in the coolant tank. We installed a DI water system and now run Blasocut BC40. Coolant lasts almost indefinitely, just keep topping off adding 2% to keep the concentration level from getting to high. I was told by our Blaser rep to never use softened water as you are exchanging the calcium ion for the chloride ion from the salt that is used to soften the water. Blasser will do a free water analysis of your water and tell you what is exactly in it. One on of my computers I have a very detailed PDF on coolant use in machine tools, I will look for it when I have a moment. After running a DI water system I will never use any other type of water to mix machine coolant with.
  8. Check your machine parameters. On our Moris there is a parameter that controls whether or not the door unlocks at M1, M0, M30.
  9. Six year olds dont need all those warnings, I have heard they run with them suppressed.
  10. I would check the machine parameters, my Moris tool change with T1 M6 on same line.
  11. Working on a MoriSeiki NV5000 16i MSX-501 IV, I am having trouble running a M198 sub call from the memory card. I have read through all the M198 topics I could fine. I can read and punch to the card from NC memory. DNC Operation I/O Channel = 4 NC Parameter 20 = 4 138.7 = 1 3404.2 = 1 6030 = 198 Here are two programs I am testing the M198 call with. O0001 is on the card and it is named 0001 on the card O2001 is in NC memory. % O2001 (M198 MAIN CALL) M198 P0001 M30 % % O0001(M198 TEST) G91 G1 X-5.0 F5.0 G4P1000 M99 % Place machine in memory, program 2001 in memory Cycle Start Cycle Start button lights, Cycle time clock starts Nothing happens Thank you
  12. Try ALT+Space bar then M. Click and hold LMB see if you can drag it down.
  13. davidjudd2, you should consider contacting your reseller to see if you could get a copy of the Home Learning Edition (HLE). Unless your shop is running V8, there are so many differences between V8 and X4/X5 that you will have to unlearn V8 when moving to a current version. MC Demo/Home Learning Edition
  14. I think it is soft water that causes foam. Adding the calcium would increase the hardness.
  15. Thanks, Link fixed, pesky period at the end.

  17. NO, just like drill entity selection the list is sorted in the order it was created.
  18. Sooo why not let the V9 guys see what they are going to miss in X5. I didnt see it but I gather it was just a PDF, not the source code, not the mathematic algorithms, not the codes for our nuclear arsenal. Didnt really like X when it first came out but now I would quite this profession if I ever had to go back to V9. Not upgrading from V9 to X5 is a serious case of penny wise, dollar dumb.
  19. Bilz ISG2200-WK Has anyone used this system? I visited a shop that were running them, very fast, integral coolant tank which was nice. When the tool was finished being inserted the holder lowers into the cabinet and is showered with coolant for cool down rises when finished. Down side a little price no back side stop rod. Any opinions on a good quality heating system for 9 to 12k? TIA
  20. I never knew why it worked that way.
  21. I did a presentation for my sons kindergarten class career day on CNC machining. I machined a small oval key chain for each student with the school name and year on one side and their initials on the other. The kids love them and it was useful. They attached them to their back packs and their teachers added them to their key rings. For the older crowd you could make a bottle cap opener. Add your company's name or logo and mention your 30years of accomplishments. You could program the initials as subs and make before the eyes of the visitors a customized key chain just for them. It would take a some up front work. Most people think you go to the store and buy it that way, some engineers for that matter think that too.
