  1. I use master cam to program 5 axis routers with my company looking into 6 axis robots. The power it has to program 5 axis routers is great, And useing the fourm I have found that the are post out there for 6 axis robots. How may programs can do that and are user freindly.
  2. I had to cut stellite on dies for transvers wedge roll machine. The original dies wore out and they just welded them up. I cut them on a 3 axis mazak mill. That was a lot of fun. [ 07-14-2003, 01:55 PM: Message edited by: Keith M ]
  3. I was involved with a Ideas user group about 2 years ago. A local college was where we had our meetings at like 7 pm. The college had about 20 seats of Ideas and the teacher was there also. I am not saying that the teacher new everything just that everyone help where they could. I would be interested if ther was one in Pa.
  4. Simon are they using master cam to do the programs or to just make the files and then some other software to make the tool paths. One other issue I have with this is some of our parts a rather lager with bigger one on the way. We may have to have a indexing table under all of the fixtures. I am talking about some parts may be as long as 18 to 20 feet and 10 to 12 fett wide.
  5. They tell me that it will be cheaper to go with the robot. I just wonder if they are figureing the added time it will take to rewrite all of the programs that they have currently. James have you had any experence with 6 axis?
  6. I was just wondering if any body out there is using master cam to program 6 axis robots. My company is thinking of replacing their Thermwood 5 axis router and one on the things that they are looking into is a 6 axis robot. For what I am told is that they are only about 60 percent accurate with off line programs then you have to adjust them in at the machine. They have the percsion need for production work once the program is tested.
  7. I do architectural drawing at home in my spare time. I have found differences of 2 feet on some of the drawing that I have gotten to start with.

  10. Were are running it on a Par. It is more on a special made machine. Boeing runs a lot of Par made machines. Ours is set up with a router spindle on it. It has 30 feet in x axis 15 feet in y axis 5.6 feet in z. I had to have them special made just for us. They had 8" loc and yes they are soild carbide.Yes sometimes I also use a 4" extension on that. 11. Currently I use a 3/4 dia. ball mill that is 12" long.
  12. The largest thing I have machined is a 34 foot boat hull and deck. They were about 10 feet wide and 5.5 feet tall. That is using a 5-axis router to do that.
  13. A guy I worked with used a .005 tapered end mill. It was on graphite. It was used to cut it the manufactures emblem.
  14. I know on some machines the axises are switched. The post you are suing may be set for a machine that has the X and Y axis reversided. I know that is the case on our Thermwood.
  15. Is one of the benefits a relocation price ? [ 07-08-2003, 12:04 PM: Message edited by: Keith M ]
