  1. Not sure but hope that computer is not on the internet... cimco NFS that should come from heidenhain works great with the XP firewall diabled.
  2. Has anyone used the Advanced 5 Axis "Convert to 5 Axis" I'm using it to tip the tool 30 degrees and the surface is out of tolerance up to .005" my tolerances are set to .0002.., in some areas. Verfiy using a stl file and measuring points in verfy confirm the error as does the actual machined surface. If I change the angle to .002 the surface comes out a lot better but then I lose the advantage of getting the cutting edge away from the center of the ballmill.
  3. Thre's usually a setting in the misc integers parameter page that will allow you to set a bias.
  4. What is the approximate radius of the surfaces where you're getting facets? With smaller radi say .75 or less I'd be using .0001" tolerance. Also what size & type of cutter?
  5. Moly-Dee cutting fluid?.. I'd use way-lube or some kind of lubricant... NOT Cutting fluid.
  6. Thanks.. I just figured it out... I checked retract and set both retract and feed plane to zero.
  7. I'm trying to cut some open contours with multiple depth of cuts and " keep tool down" checked. My problem is that the tool does not rapid back to the start of the next pass... it feeds. I need it to rapid as there are many passes and the rapid motion is wasted time. In the control def for Rapid motion I have " All axes arrive at destination simultaneously".
  8. I've got no experience with it but here's a link with some info: http://www.langleyalloys.com/ferralium255-sd50.asp
  9. I agree with JMC I'm using TNC controls and define the part zero ( X Y Z A & C ) in the preset table and I'm ready to go. I used to program where we had to move the model... if the absolute clearance moves are not far enough away and you have to move the model in Z it could cause problems.
  10. I double checked my quick "test" file and the error only occurs if the the amount of stock in Z is zero from the top of stock.. eg. zero all of clearance, top of stock and zero in the depth. A condition which I would never have. I can duplicate this condition in X2 also... I wouldn't consider it a bug... a bit unexpected though.
  11. I disabled the roughing pass and only generate the finish pass... of .010". Still no lead-in only a loead - out .
  12. I just tried to duplicate this and the lead in is NOT working... I tried perpendicular with no radius and the tool does not have a lead in. I also tried tangent and only the radius lead-in is there which will cause an error due to cutter comp being turned on in a circular move. Has this been reported yet?
  13. I've been looking at sample files and I've run across a bug?? Backplotting POCKET DEPTH OPTIONS.MCX without a regen runs as it's supposed to. A regen causes it to machine each pocket complete and NOT by depth. I also started a file from scratch and it also is incorrect.
  14. Bruce, The fillet around the largest diameter is .095. Do you intend to make that .125 or are you going to re-cut it? Also can you use a bullnose on the inside FLAT area?
  15. The feed rates will not be converted nor will the tool lengths and diameters...
  16. If you haven't yet check all the computer(s) for adware etc...
  17. Sorry I didn't read your problem thoroughly.. re garding 2 axis move... Th only solution I see is to drill a start hole.
  18. David, I tried what you're trying to do and it worked fine. Make sure you draw the entry "point" at the Z level of the TOP of your Stock and the pocket geomety is at the bottom of the pocket then use "Ramp from entry point"... do not use "Align ramp with entry point" make sure you set your ramp angle etc. before you check the box for "Ramp from entry point"
  19. With Ver 9.1 I've had a few files over 400Mb.. no WCS just lots of difficult surfaces and 5 Axis tool paths... It was stable as a rock! I haven't yet had any large files in MCX2.
  20. The X2MR2 Patch 1 released 10/11/2007 has a converter.
  21. These settings ought to work... mtype : 0 head_is_sec : 0 rotaxis1 = -vecy #Zero rotdir1 = vecx #Direction rotaxis2 = vecz #Zero rotdir2 = -vecy #Direction p_nut_restore #Postblock, restores original axis settings result = updgbl(rotaxis1, -vecy) #Zero result = updgbl(rotdir1, vecx) #Direction result = updgbl(rotaxis2, vecz) #Zero result = updgbl(rotdir2, -vecy) #Direction
  22. Yup .. most likely the network drive is full...
  23. I'm not sure about haas, but I need to set "NC precision" to 7 places in the control def to eliminate jerky movement in 5 axis toolpaths.. otherwise set your tolerance tighter so post outputs more.. NOT fewer points.
  24. MCFELIX What is the H condition of the 17-4 H950 is a lot different than H1150 or H1025...
