  1. in your control parameters, there is usually a setting for the G00 to use either a "combined" xy rapid, or "independent" acceleration. for some reason alot of machines are defaulted to independent; i would change it. check your control manual.
  2. Master Fresh Java Engineer, I'll bring some by soon. http://www.emastercam.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...c;f=11;t=004629
  3. Matt, I think you need to use a "round" grooving tool to get the right compensation
  4. how about that, a microwave guy helping another microwave guy...+gcode. no "randle"ing here..
  5. Ernie, I think it would be cool to be in an isometric view (or any other) and be able to have the part rotate about the z axis.
  6. i've programmed similar holes. if possible, use a regular drill, and then drill the bottom of the hole with the spherical shaped drill.(long or short)
  7. why don't you make a "coin" with your school logo/team on it? or a mold to make the coin. very simple 2d stuff, use different z depths..just need to get small engraving tools..
  8. how about screen next menu, combine views? v9 i know...
  9. mike, change the "lock codes" in the rotary setting in your post from a 0 to a 1
  10. hi dan. welcome. i grabbed a file off the ftp and added 2 radial examples. in the mc9 dir: rotary-axis-test-round jay_bruce.mc9 the second one with check surfs is the same program as the one without, and it works ok.
  11. the most important 2, are database and toolpath. the other ones will prompt you to increase them if you open a file with a need for them to increase. everyone will want different settings for different reasons, but since you indicated above that you have 512 meg of ram, this is what i would suggest you try: database= 120000, and toolpath 60000. after you change these, save the default config file. try opening the files you are having trouble with. the 120000 allows you to open a file in mastercam that is about 120 meg in size. 60000 allows 60 meg of ram for toolpath calculations. i think this is explained in the help file or the manual. if your harddrive is getting full, and you are calculating a toolpath that needs more temp space than what you have available, the process will stop and hang, or error out. (probably not your problem)
  12. sg: file, next menu, ram saver. after you imported that iges file, do screen stats. how many entites are there? 10's of thousands?
  13. If Dave is not answering his phone, Brett Thomas would be next on the "dmu" list at In-House Solutions. (today is good friday - a holiday)
  14. have you had the computer for a while? have you ever run defrag? checked for viruses?
  15. not quite sure what you are asking but, try this. from the main menu: create, line, multi, and start sketching. in the upper right corner of your screen, you will see x,y values change as you move the mouse. also on the bottom left of the screen you will see the length and current angle. alt+p will toggle the bottom of the screen.
  16. mastercam dosn't force you to do anything. in your screen configure you can turn off posting altogther. you can also change your nci name to be the "name" that you want your posted code to be. "house cleaning" is all part of computers... you could also leave the .nc extension, and just put the nc files in a dir for each machine..
  17. i grabbed a file off the ftp and added a drilling example. in the mc9 dir: rotary-axis-test-round jay_bruce.mc9
  18. make sure that the nci file names are the same, and that you are selecting all the op you want to post.
  19. put the wireframe/surfaces/solid are that you need help with on the ftp. (only the section you need help with)someone will help. [ 04-13-2006, 10:27 AM: Message edited by: Bruce Gibson ]
  20. I was looking for some examples in the ftp also, but why don't you put a file there for someone to help you with?
