Salary in here based on 40Hrs. The company pays and treats very well though. That's why I'm in here for 60Hrs. anyways and make sure I give them every penny worth.
Rob
I have also found that editing common paramaters doesn't always come up with the results that I'm looking for. For example when I have WCS checked under display options, and I decide to change that whole operation group to a different WCS, the name in the operation menu does not change... It does change the WCS, yet it does not change the name of it. I would have to manualy go into every operation and change the WCS in order for the name to change. Am I making sense here?
I'm running 9.1 sp1 with the latest patches, and windows is up to date also. Anybody else with the same problem?

Just checked the machine control-- It's a PLC Switch called "Short Cut RT". This control is a Meldas so the name of your switch might be different. That's all I have for you. Good luck
Rob
jadkins,
I can't remember off the top of my head, but I believe it's either in your PLC switch page, or Control Paramater page of the machine control. All you have to do is turn the switch to "shortest path".
Rob
KSmith ,
Welcome to the forum. This is the best place to get info from regarding MC. I just like yourself started off on a bad note, but I survived and am still here. Best of luck.

Does anyone know a solution to the crummy set-up sheet situation??? none of the operators at this company like any format I have used...
I think it sucks as well.
Man those are some harsh words... Which set-up sheet are you using? What don't you like about it? What do you want it to do? Please be specific.
Rob
If you have more than one line of engraving maybe you should chain them one line at a time. If you chain a single line of letters the chains come out pretty good.
Rob
Do you mean double-click the file and have it open? Than yes, just make sure you're opening with your editor (whichever you use). Right click, open with, select what you want it opened with.
Rob
Is there a way to convert drafting notes into machinable geometry? Customer sent a file with lots of engraving done to it. It would be much quicker to work off his notes than to create my own letters...
Thanks,
Rob
Thad,
In here we use hydraulic clamping made by Vektek. The only grab the bottom .250 of the part or so, and also pull it in. Check out www.carrlane.com. They have a bunch of different clamping systems. Also www.vektek.com. Good luck.

Millman^crazy,
Thanks for the reply, and the tips. I believe we both are on about the same leve here. Here is where I stand right now... I don't think you're crazy at all for thinking 420SFM. I started with 450 SFM @ .005 FPT. I ended up with about 80% stepover rate just to keep the scallop reasonable. The tool cut fairly nice, but pretty time consuming. If the pocket was smaller or the dia. of the cutter was bigger things would be different, but this is all I've had from Valenite and just wanted to give it a shot.... Still sticking to my Iscar Feed Mill---2.5 Dia moving 589 SFM with .020 FPT (5 flute) @ .072 DOC. This baby flies.

Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding one of those... The problem is that I don't have any info on it. All I have is the part # on the tool itself which is TC+ 027 3xD 216.56.327 OD. I do not have any catalogs for speeds or feeds or stepovers for the plunge application, and their website is getting updated. I have 2 grades of inserts (415 & SV415) to play with. The material to be cut is 420SS. The horspower on the machine is no problem. We have had the tool in here for about a year, but never used it yet. Now one guy is on vacation so there is an open machine to try it on. Any tech. info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

It's not just your system. What I found works quicker is editing common paramaters, and changing the WCS for all operations at once... One problem that I found though, is that the name of the WCS in operation manager does not change. Like you mentioned above, every individual operation needs manual change to it to read the correct name of WCS.I have spoken to Peter @ S4A and he had the same problem. I hope the new SP will have a fix for it.
