Are you with the company "Jammer" that makes motorcycle parts? I could be wrong but I don't believe Jammer (the company) is in business anymore . They used to have some cool stuff. Remember the Z bar?
perfecseal mankato,
Not sure of the brand of cutters you're using, but let me suggest Niagara series ELITE SS335.

you can get two rice burners for one harley. Not true!! Only if you're in the market for a newer bike, and it seems that everyone wants new. There are plenty of reasonably priced older harleys around. Sure, they can be a little tempermental, but so are the older Japanese and Brit bikes too. I find it fun & relaxing to be able to work on my own bike. Just like anything else you could fix it right, or you could just rig it so it rattles apart.

I have sent my file to Peter@ S4A, and he could not re-create the problem... His solution was to make sure Windows has the latest updates. I haven't had the problem since.

Rekd,
No flame from me even though I ride one. I agree with you on most of what you said. I have been riding for 17+ yrs. myself, and I've been around the block a time or two. Harley doesn't even service a bike that is pre-evo engined ( in CT no dealer will let you roll your bike into their garage bay unless it is an Evo). There is no reason for Harley to celebrate 100 years (money?) if they forgot their roots. I know about the attitudes too, but most of them are from the first time Harley owners. Yeah, the ones that don't even know how to change their own oil. I love bikes in general, but choose to ride a Harley, but not to support the company, so no I'm not going to Milwaukee.

P.S.
How do you burry an Evo?
With a Shovel
WCS... Sometimes a little confusing, but I could not imagine being without it now. It makes programming a lot quicker. Now I work off the original file without having to rotate, transform, change levels, etc.. One file, twenty different programs on twenty different WCS.

Basically if you are worth watering, you'll get watered. If you have a xxxx poor attitude and come in to get your check and thats it, thats all your gonna get. That is Perfect!!! I'm in the process of training 3 employees right now. Right away I could tell that only one has potential... Some people just don't get it.
Do you really need to start in the center of the pocket? You could just ramp your cutter down wherever it starts, and eliminate the pre-drill from your operation.
Murlin,
No, no... The Iscar plunge mill would have worked great on a vertical, or a horizontal that was more rigid ( bigger pallet, or a smallet part that was closer to the bottom of the tombstone). This machine has a 500mm pallet, and the cener of gravity is way up there . We have tried cutters from a few manufacturers, and for the past few months have been roughing out the pockets at night using the Feed Mill from Iscar. Knock on wood, but no crashes happened.
Rob
Murlin,
Iscar is the cutter we tried. The tool was great, but it did not suit the application (that was according to the rep. after running the tool). Originally we used to slug the pockets (additional locators in the center of the slug with screws holding it to the tombstone). It was time consuming, and the chips still had a hard time evacuating even with air blow... Right now we use 2.5" Iscar Feed Mill, and machine out the pocket clean. The time is an awesome 24 mins. per plate, and the inserts last through four plates without any problems... Again our main issue was lights out production that was safe (any such thing ?) and efficient, and plunge milling was not it.
Rob
Peter,
I have installed it myself. The antivirus was running in the background (network). I wish that I could upload the file(s) to the FTP, but I have no access... Strange thing is that when I have gotten the file from the Temp folder, and resaved it in my regular directory (without regenerating it)it was fine.
You are my reseller, and I'm sorry that I haven't reported it to you. I figured it's still some minor bugs that will get fixed with newer patches.
We have tried plunge milling about 2 years ago. The machine was a horizontal Mitsubishi (M-H50E).
It looked great on the computer screen. One problem that we ran into was vibration. We needed to cut out thru pockets in Royalloy stainless. Plates were big: 15x20x2.375 and pockets were 9.625x14.500. It was too unpredictable for lights out production... I'm sure it would work much better on a vertical, or having the center of gravity lower. Has anyone out there used this method for a while?
I have received a file from a customer in IGES format. The file is a stripped down solid that looks like it's been through a lot (squashed, overlapping entities deleted, dupilate entities deleted)... It is just plain old ugly, and I can't get anything better. There are MANY arcs that I need closed. Is there any way to close them all together instead of one at a time. I am using V9.1.
Thanks in advance
