  2. Great evenin' Well, I opened the mail box, and there it was, 9.1, from the great people @ Services4automation Its been worth waiting for...gotta go, and play, and to think all you beta testers must be BORED. Am I the last one to get 9.1.??? Or am I just the happiest.??? 3. Good Day, I have spoken to owners and Mfg. managers of companies that are wasting good money on cheap labor (unskilled set-up and very low end operators ) and they tell me, they can not find GOOD CNC PEOPLE. The bottom line is: They will not PAY for good CNC people. I do the math for them: For another 30 to 35% pay they will have someone that can think, and I tell them that at a minimum, this will save them 50% every day....And the worse part is, THEY AGREE...but, they end up saying: "I cant pay that much" Tony G Unemployed Programmer N.E Massachusetts - Southern New Hampshire _________________________________________ End mills and tooling are like The "AMMO" and coolant and chips are like the enemy under your boots as you advance in the Manufacturing Battle. _________________________________________ [ 04-04-2003, 12:35 PM: Message edited by: CNCme ]
  4. Good Day, _____________________________________________ but lately have ben getting some offers to return. Has anyone gone thru this before? _____________________________________________ It might be that these offers are people you have worked for before or that you know. Because I have been in search for "ANY" CNC programmer jobs for over 10 months. I find ads for Programmers and CNC process engineers but what they really want is cnc opperators. You are from CT and thats not far from where I am, Southern NH and eastern MA. I have put out 200+ resumes for CNC prog. and even High end Senior machinist and most companys dont even call. And when I call they say they dont need somone with my Exp....Over Qualified I found an ad 0n the Internet for CNC programmer and when I called the Company they said the Req.s were 4 year collage degree and the job paid $12 per hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7. Good Eve' I have always been amazed that owners ( Bosses ) Dont want to hear, for the most part, things like : I cant get this job going because 1. I have a problem with... 2. I lost my program 3. The COMPUTER isn't responding To the boss, the only thing that matters is that this job should be done in 30 to 40% less time than is possible. Every job is a "five minute job" or, that sounds like a "Mini program" ( 30 tools). Quality is #1, unless the parts a late. We have made parts for years, and never used a computer. The thing that gets bosses the most is they hate the computers, but they know they have to have them. 8. Good Eve' Well you have to run the tool anyway... I put the numbers in, put the setup part in and start cuttin'...if the tool is .1 above and the program says Z.1, I cut the part... So when the boss says what are you doin', You dont say im checking that the numbers (g50's register) look ok... You say I cut the part and the Inspector is checking that the part numbers look OK...Bosses like that. 9. Good evnin' Can you tell me why these registers need to do what you say, is it for the set-up person or the operator. When I setup a machine, I only need the machine register and the active abs register ( part zero ). Are you telling me you dont get the absolute 0r part zero register.??? 12. Most companys have what is called drops. An alum. bar end, many sizes, from 12' bars, called drops...I got drops close to the size you specified fo about $60-70 The thing that makes the alum. cutoff so expensive is the cutting...From a 12 footer. You will be able to get close to your size...you might have to cut one or two sides....but it still cheep to ask for a drop. 14. Good Evenin' I have always used coolant, it helps tool life on standard carbide or cobalt, if you cant afford exotic inserts. and it keeps the dust down HTH Tony G Unemployed Programmer N.E Massachusetts - Sothern New Hamshire

  16. REKD __________________________________________ Plunge roughing with a big drill moves material fast. ___________________________________________ How much "BIG" is a .281 to .250...??? Is that ant/elephant ratio.? Buddy...I would plunge the corners too But the slot is only .35 wide... thats why I said .28 (4) in a row would remove the most material from the total slot and also let the chips fall thru and use only a finsh mill with multi-pass to rough and finsh fast. Tony G Unemployed Programmer N.E Massachusetts - Sothern New Hamshire
  17. Good evenin' _______________________________________ I have a bunch of em. How does plunge roughing work in a situation like this? __________________________________________ ? Do you mean by plunge roughing Plunge a bunch of possible broken "em"S. I would drill a .312 hole thru...O, by the way...are you trying to do it ( fast ) to save time, or is time not a factor... sorry, ever since I was laid off I think, if I could of worked a little faster, Would I still be EMPLOYED...? But anyway... Maybe (4) .281 diam.s Thru, to alow the chips to fall thru, then bring on those bunch of em. and go, like you said 2" from both sides. I usually use a contour at this point, and start ( plunge ) in one of those thru holes ... Better to plunge a drill than an em. their cheeper. 22. _ _________________________________________ ive got prolly a thousand progs already designed, prooven out and posted in smartcam. ______________________________________________ What does " prooven out and posted " mean ??? If you already have them in SC you should also already have and created nc (G-code) prog. If they are as old as you say. What I do is run the part, from the old nc, (or didnt you save the old nc) and add changes or updates and start cutting parts. ...I have never, and will never rewrite a program that has already been Posted. I like to use MC too, But the name of the game is to produce parts as fast and as efficiently as possible. Ive been OUT of WORK for 8 Months and some people have time to Rewrite prog.s that have already "Prooooven Out AND posted. WOW ...what is your company spending its money on... 25. I can change the Chord height, ambient and translucent and those change in the cofigure, but not "all 1 material"...also I looked in the mill9.cfg and there is no question for "all 1 material" under [shade settings]. Chord height ,ambient , and translucent all show the changes ...is this the problem...are only the parameters with questions adjustable ?
