  1. .001 per flute, .005 deep for the finish cut. You should be able to get 50 sfm with a carbide 3/4 long four flute if also cutting side. (leave .001) 120 sfm if not.
  2. $1.81 for 87 & 89 here in southwest Michigan.
  3. And BTW welcome to the forum Bob.
  4. quote: -------------------------------------------------- Are you gonna tell me if your buddy had some tax software or whatever that he bought for $30 and offered it to you last month to use you said 'no thanks, pal, that's piracy'. I don't think so. -------------------------------------------------- My daughter is a big SIMS user and when she got her first copy she wanted to trade with her friends. I told her that trading software is illegal and NEVER give her software to other people and don't receive software from others. She now has all of the SIMS software through saving her money/presents. After spending her own money on her copies she now gets mad when someone asks to copy her SIMS or other software. If you can live with idea that it's OK for certain people to steal software for whatever reason then that's your opinion. But don't cover the rest of us that think stealing anything is bad with your blanket. Sorry about posting this on a thread that was asking a simple (and in my mind a legetimate) question.
  5. I don't know much about HASS but if you are driving your toolpath on flat geometry it should come out flat. Another idea is your cutter in not at the vurtual "Y" center because of the tool holder or maybe a crash moved the turret or spindle. We've had both problems on our 3 axis lathes. Indicate the holder to the center of the spindle to make sure your holder is concentric to the spindle. If it's off perpendicular to the x axis, indicate the turret along the x axis to make sure it hasn't moved. If the turret is fine but you have to shim your lathe holders to make a facing tool cut to the center cleanly, it could be the spindle has been moved. Hopefully it is the toolpath
  6. Actually G9 decelerates the control. To enable position check you need a second G9. If you are already using G9/G8, try turning off the scales. FADAL was in here three days trying to figure why our 6030 was jerking. Every once in a while during tapping it would vibrate so badly the machine would physically move.
  7. We had the same problem with our 6030. We would get jerking with out tapping also. Fadal's solution was to turn off our scales. The jerking did stop but now we tolerance problems. FADAL SUCKS
  8. You can get horizontals with indexers that will position at 1 degree increments, but even if you don't use fourth axis work you're still better off with a rotary table just for the indexing speed. An indexer typically has to move off gears, index then move back on.
  9. Can you add a g28 or g30 home callout before the start block? This would eliminate the problem and not add movement except for a restart. 10. Gary, The tombstone set up for plates works very well for us. We also run quantities of 2 to 30, but we repeat our jobs so making different plate isn't an issue. You could also get 4" clustervises from Kurk or Chick in which you could run up to three sides for a rectangular part. On our vises we use steel soft jaws with a step and holes for pins to use as stops. You can record the locations of the stops used so when you run the jaws with the pins in a previous location you can run a location program through the control to save setup time. If you decide to make your own tombstone(s), assemble them on a plate set up for your table, and you can load and unload your indexer setup in minutes. you may also want a 3" riser under our indexer/tailstock for clearance.
  11. It says right now there are 7 guests. Who are they?
  12. Is your mill a vmc or hmc? Are your repeating your parts or are they one time runs? What quantities are you running?
  13. I have the same problem occasionally when I xform a stl file. If I close the file and reopen it, it works fine.
  14. G84.2 sets up rigid tapping mode G84.1 is the code that does the tapping N0290TM06S N0300G90M05 NG84.2 N0350G00XYE01 N0360ZH N0370G99G84.1RZSFM08 N0390G80
  15. sorry, instead of work, you want geo (going by memory)
  16. After rereading, are you talking about where to put cc in the machine itself? If so, go to your offset screen, push work, go to the number you want, insert the radius. Note: the length offset (H) and the diameter offset (D) must be different numbers in fanuc "O" controls
  17. After chaining the geometry you will go into the tool parameter page. Look for dia. offset and put the number you want there. When you post, the g41/g42 will show on the first go1 x-y line.
  18. +1 on the spiral point taps! I don't like roll taps in through holes for softer materials though. When your deburring the exit hole the threads have a tendency to roll over.
  19. quote: ------------------------------------------------- Who out there has business cards??? ------------------------------------------------- I do. Mainly for the tooling reps. I use their cards more than they use mine though.
  20. I program only production, but when I have a "long" verify, I start it up, go to a second session and start setting up my next job while verify is running.
  21. George, Sales jobs with that state potential growth are a lot of times jobs that grow stress especially when the percieved growth is not met.
  22. quote: -------------------------------------------------- I think what Tom was implying is that the value for a professional athlete is overestimated. Granted, hitting a ball traveling that fast and making a decision in a short amount of time is not the easiest thing to do. Is it worth several million a year? I don't think so. -------------------------------------------------- The bottom line is baseball is making money. Thus As long as baseball is making money, then the players should take all baseball is willing to give them. Any person whether they play a sport or runs a vmc should make as much as they can. If your not making it where you are, then you should try "free agency". There are businesses that like the Yankees understand that top workers in whaterever field will make the company more money and deserve to be paid for it.
  23. Quote: -------------------------------------------------- Bud.... sewer water, Miller... septic tank run off. -------------------------------------------------- +1 to that!
  24. I had eight years as a machinist before I started programming. It was easy for to take a print and make a part manually, so I thought it was going a gravy job. I found it was much different with a print and a keyboard. The first four months I would come home wide awake from sitting a desk all day and proceed to fall asleep for an hour in a chair minutes after I sat down.
