  1. I remember using Teksoft Cad/Cam over 20 years ago, and getting a new 5 1/4" floppy with "bug fixes" every week...I too, thank the people at CNC for their hard work. It is much appreciated here.
  2. I have been using Pick/pull/cutoff, and stock flip with no issues. Haven't needed stock transfer yet, but I did use it in X6.
  3. I installed the verisurf tools, but I don't like the WCS enabled. I can turn it off in the preferences, but it won't stick. Is there a way to make the settings stick?
  4. Now I'm really confused. I bought the High Speed Machining option from Haas, but I need to use G103 to limit look ahead???
  5. I would still urge you to try a double margin drill of some sort. I think Mitsubishi has the MHS, but not sure about size options.
  6. What drills are you using? I have had good luck in some fairly hard Nickel Ti with Kennametal 3 and 4 margin drills. I have not tried them in Hard steel though. The 3 margin made an exceptionally nice round hole.
  7. I just bought some Seco High Feed milling tools for an upcoming job. The feed rates suggested by the rep are a little scary, and I'm a bit sceptical about the Haas keeping up. I'm going to be running on a Haas VF-3 with High Speed Machining option. I want to program with feed rates in the 400-500 IPM range, but the longest cut will be around 10". Will the machine accelerate/decelerate quickly and smoothly enough? What should I have the control set to (Rough, Medium, Finish, Corner rounding)? I had to change the corner rounding setting when Dynamic milling to keep from snapping a .125 endmill that was hanging out 1.25", but this application is a bit different. Any thoughts?
  8. ^^^ That makes sense. I have been importing operations every day for the past month and have not had this happen, but I am only using high speed toolpaths.
  9. Try Grainger, I found replacement switches for our Haas machines there. Most machine tool builders use standard industrial switches.
  10. I installed X7 and the SP2 update, then used the migrate utility. I haven't had any problems yet that I could call a bug. I checked my verify settings, and it defaults to 5 axis. My only gripe is that I have to change the values in compare every time I use it. I have to say I am pleased with it because it is SO much faster to re-gen and verify than X6.
  11. Strange. I thought for sure I would have problems because I installed X7 and ran the migration utility despite all the warnings. So far, verify has been working great. I have a couple of weird things now and then, but no show stoppers. I am running Intel Xeon dual quad core, 12 gigs ram, and dual Quadro 4000's.
  12. There is a tab in Verify to show "True Thread".
  13. I just used the migration utility. Every now and then, it has a pop up warning about something, but I have had no problems yet.
  14. Set minimum depth on Steep/Shallow tab to -.001 below top surface.
  15. I like the fact that X7 is so much faster, but it looks like it's time for more RAM.
  16. I run the Op manager and Level manager on the right. Now with X7, I don't know what to do with the Verify window. Maybe I need a third monitor.
  17. I just installed X7 and ran the migration utility Friday. I hope it doesn't bite me. I played with it for maybe an hour, and everything seemed to be working. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  18. The new X7 Mill-Turn package from Mastercam is impressive. They already have a list of machines that it is compatable with and a list for machines they are currently working on. I suggest checking with the re-seller to see if the machine you are thinking of is supported.
  19. Quick and dirty - Draw a circle the correct diameter and use circle mill toolpath with a key cutter. You can create the tool in the tool manager as you fill in the parameters for the tool path.
  20. Try translate 3D. It transforms the part between views.
  21. I have had very good luck with Guhring gun drills in Titanium. .078" X 4" deep. It is slow, but hole quality is excellent. If you have high pressure through spindle coolant, give it a try.
  22. But WHY does it dirty the operation when you change the program# or tool# ect. I am speaking about X6, I haven't tried X7 yet.
  23. I was hoping things like this would be fixed. I am still using X6, but when I change a tool #, it dirties the operation and I have to re-gen. The extra hour or two to re-gen everything is just ridiculous.
