  1. I dunno if this was mentioned in that last thread on stl imports because I'm not reading that garbage but my reseller came up with a decent work around until it gets fixed in mastercam. Use a program called EasyFit http://www.click-to-fit.com/easyfit.php?PHPSESSID=pakerbpxfxdg〈=en its kind of a pain to use because most of the commands are in german but you can simply associate your stls with this program, double-click open them with the software and select Project ->>> Export as STL and give it a name, done! You can even play around with the triangle reduction command to reduce the size of your stl's. HTH
  2. I am just going to go back to MU1. It would be nice if these MU patches would show up in the uninstall list to make it easier to change versions.
  3. I already have my precision index set to 10. I don't think it has anything to do with the display inside of verify. It's when it saves the file to stl. When I import one of these new stl models and unshade it, it looks fine. As soon as you shade it it goes bonkers.
  4. To bad the stock model doesn't remove chips or support custom profile tools from the tool manager.
  5. Well I was hoping there was a problem with this one file I am working on. Guess I am not alone in this problem I sent in some files to my reseller for him to take a look at. Not being able to import and use STL files is such a huge deal for me. Am I going to have to wait 6 months for a fix for this?
  6. Yeah! This was exactly what I was looking for to put tools in the tool manager. It works great.
  7. So..... Am I doing something wrong with the importing of tools? Do I really need the ISO 13399 spec? Throw me a bone here Rich, you keep asking for data/info I keep giving it without any response what so ever.
  8. I drew up some threadmills for a job and wanted to add them to a tooldb library. I saved the files as dxf since that is the only option available when you select "import custom geometry from a file". When I tried to import them into the tool manager I get "Invalid Tool PropertiesProblem with custom tool data - NOCUT layer not found." My only plan with the manufacturer list is to be able to add whoever we buy the tool from so myself, the tool crib attendant and the president of the company can look at these tooldb files and know who we purchased the tools from. Right now, my tool crib guy keeps asking me who is this mastercam imported data.... lol. Hopefully, some day in a future version of this tool manager software it will automatically feed that data to an active reports setup sheet I did send in a fairly lengthy e-mail about the tool manager and active reports to qc at mastercam.com in November of last year and never heard anything from it.
  9. Sigh.... I really shouldn't be on here. WTF is ISO 13399 and why on earth do I have to spend another 300 bucks to buy this standard, read all of it and figure it out just to get a damn tool in the tool library?
  10. When is this tooling manager ever going to be updated to include more manufacturers or just give me the freaking ability to put the name in myself? I have emails from these developers from back when x7 was released for a beta preview with an updated list of manufacturers that were never added. Is this going to be a wait for x8 in a year so I spend all my time updating all the tool lists I've already made?
  11. Welcome to the new verify.... accurate zoom, reset zoom, accurate zoom, reset zoom, accurate zoom, reset zoom, accur...... I'm programming parts that are 99 inches to 120 inches long with lots of detail. So much fun!
  12. Interesting.... the problem I had today dragging and dropping was a holder that I had duplicated and then changed some parameters and renamed the holder. But heck there were quite a few tools I had created that were all unique and I couldn't get them to drag/drop until the next day.
  13. I'm not even sure how I can explain this its so bizarre. I have to be doing something wrong and Im just not seeing it. I maintain one tool library for all my holders. I make separate libraries for different jobs that have assemblies and the tools I created. So during the day I may create a new holder in my master library of holders and drag and drop that holder into an assembly library for a new job and setup the assembly with the tool. Since MU1 I can't do this. It just will not let me click and hold a holder and drop it into a new library. The drag and drop is so fussy that I usually wait until the next day to create assemblies in my library. Yes it will actually let me drag and drop some of the holders the next day after I create them. WTF is causing this? edit: Forgot to mention this library was started when X7 first came out. Could this be the problem?
  14. Is anyone else have issues drag and dropping tools in the tool manager with MU1? I can't create an assembly at all by dragging a holder from one library into another library like I use to do.
  15. Done. Sent a poorly worded and organized list of thoughts hope it helps!
  16. Are they going to show up in Active Reports tool lists as well? Kinda tired of making fake toolpaths and ghosting them just to get the output I need.
  17. activate 5 axis simulation engine in the options
  18. LOL gawd I need a day off. Thanks man
  19. I remember removing these giant origin arrows a couple years ago but now I forgot how to remove this from X6. Anyone remember?
  20. I've always had this problem. When moving the 'red arrow of doom' between machine groups (not toolpath groups) it will switch to the last known WCS that machine group was in. Its something I've lived with for a long time.
  21. I am by no means a C++ programmer and I think those guys just rock being able to make the programs we use daily. That being said, when I sit down to redo or remake a CNC program I always have in the back of my mind "Whatever I replace needs to function faster/better/stronger than my previous attempt at the program". It just seems this latest attempt at mastercam went backwards. I have to do more work now to accomplish the same things I did in X6. I'm not saying the software is complete junk now but man it should be making my job easier not harder.
  22. I'm interested in buying a seat for myself as I don't think I'll get the powers here to buy it. You say its good at GD&T and that was one of my big questions. I'd like to export a cut model (stl) out of mastercam into space claim and lay some dimensions on it. Like corners, hole diameters, etc.. is it good at this?
  23. Do you create those proof/production directories inside each revision of the program? Reason I ask is sometimes I've gotten 3 design changes in one day while we were in production..... that would make my head spin.
  24. I'm with Rstewart, cb tools belong on the bridgeport. I helix bore mine usually.
