I don't know how I screwed up the page... My bad, I'm new to this! I put the screen shot in my jokes folder. the two IE, one was here and the other is for my screen shot... The icons I got off the 'just 4 fun' folder ftp site... anything else I have to explain. We will over look the mold I designed on wednesday and the third project I'm on for this week
Thanx for keeping me in check though!
If I am running the machine... I start with .050 comp and run the same program with .010 increments. Or if you want the work on the computer. You can make five opps and increment the stock .010 in each (.050*.040*.030...)
I never figured out how to make multi passes...
Sorry to hear that.... What kind of machine are you running? I have seen Fadals not be able to make small arcs on surfaces and gouge. If you want to send me the file. I will look at it for you and see if I see
anything.

+005/+010 Do you mean +.010/-.000?
If the model is drawn in the median of the tolarance. That is what should be translated into, lets say MasterCam in this case.
If you have a Bore 1.000 +.010/-.000 the designer drew the model at 1.005 that is what should be translated.

Why would you program a path to have to remove part of it. Absolutly!
If your just machining just a piece of a surface or a 3d contour... Mastercam does a pretty good job of letting the programmer have control of the toolpaths. I never have had to edit my .nc.

Good idea...but be warned. this forum is full of mastercam fans...
Mastercam has some cool editing features... (meta-cut... etc) Where are you at? I'm sure your local re-seller can show you some stuff to suit your shop.

Secondly, what level of MasterCAM do we need to do 3D tool paths/cutter paths?
You could probably get away with level 2. I would recomend level 3. Your re-seller could give you details. If you ever ran into any problems with anything, Here is the place you want to be!
What kind of example are you looking for? I build molds similar to the molds for coke bottles... Blunt starts/ends, 4 threads etc. are you looking for the bottle geometry or the mold for the bottle geometry? Also lathe... We run those threads on our mills or manual. I'm sure it can be done, I don't know how to run 4 diffrent threads on our C.N.C. lathe Blunt start/end for each. I will try to help if I can.

Disassembling of Mastercam is not legal by EULA It's not dissassembling... It's more like... modifing, similar to adjusting the setting in your allocations to suit your computer.
Actually I have had a Crash issue also... It's like Cammando said:

I was thinking along the lines of fastercammer walking into one of them outlaw biker bars and yelling "Harley Sucks", Nothing I can't work through. Actually I am have even more issues with SW2005. Editing a part in an Assembly etc. My computer is pegged, and still does what I need! MasterCam is where it's at! Plain and simple.
The reason I get so defensive is Mastercam is my lively-hood. It's like the Boss cruzing out to the shop just to yell at me 'cause he feels in the mood! Stick to a specific problem. All those years of programming you should be able to write code faster than mastercam! If you want to talk Sh** about Mastercam go to a Gibbs Forum!

The guys that never bomb out must be doing the easy stuff because I have just accepted that it will bombout at any time. I set autosave for 15 minutes and sometimes it is too long My molds are just a series of holes!!.....
Enough is enough!
