  1. +1 Hardmill. If you have difficulty with the second set of ops pages, Some times I Project the letters on the surface(Create, Curve, Project) then toolpath (contour, chain automatically goes to contour 3d) the projected geometry. Adjust parameters till you get the top os stock and the depth dialed in. Too confusing e-mail me, I'll give you a sample Good Luck..........
  2. quote: (just burned memorex cd's with magic marker writing on them),no real book(s) just mimeograph pages in a so called binder,(about 30 pages in all) Bucket that's Getto. With the cost of Catia, I would expect to have it delivered along with a new Dell. They got to be able to hook you up.
  3. MasterCam has courses from our local MasterCam re-seller, also some places (our local college) will give a course completion certification from MasterCam. Ripper is right some companys will test on some of their own parts. This is definitly one of the no Bull$%it industries. It doesn't take long to find out who knows their stuff or not!
  4. James, a bit extreeeeeem .......just an alanogy though +1 on guys/gals fighting for us! ! ! !
  5. With all this Dell advertising, you would think you get a free Dell with a seat of MasterCam!
  6. I don't mean to nit pick, do you mean 'counter sink'? 'counter bore' I would use an end-mill. I think you mean 'counter sink'. In '2d contour' parameters there's a pull down menu '2d chamfer'. Play around with the parameters to get what you need.
  7. Trial and Error MF Smoke a few cutters then back it down a SMIDGE! I believe it "one of those things" every machine is a bit different..........what worked on a Makino won't work on a Haas etc. Working with molds I get to experiment a lot. I've got a few parameters that work for my buddy who is a speed and feeds genius, that did'nt work for me!
  8. I started to learn 'Catia' (Demo V.) I am a SW user. (Though I didn't have all of the parameters set right). I thought I was in 'rotate orbit' (or whatever 3d rotate) I accidentially grabbed on a feature (i.e. an extruded pocket) and slid the mouse down on another face of the part, It 'catia' put that feature on the face I accidentially selected. Drawing/Solid features I tought were similar to SW. My two cents........If your not building complete cars, SW works great for the money!I never saw the Cam package, I heard it's pretty good!
  9. MetalFlake, if you E-mail me the file I will convert if for you in SW if you think it will help.
  10. I had a problem with that one time. I was a programmer for a bunch of machinists in a shop. I had a prototype part that had no flat surfaces. I roughed the part at a 45 deg parallel and a big e.m. In verify it roughed fine. The machine (P.O.S. Fadal) uses (correct me if I'm wrong) 'linear rapids' instead of 'vector rapids'. What I learned is when the machine rapids it accomplishes each axis at the same rapid rate. i.e. if you have a motion X+10. and Y+5. Y will get to position first. Some machines will rapid one axis and feed the other to accomplish a point to point rapid motion. Anyway long story longer......because the rough was @ 45Deg. It gouged, I did'nt see it in verify. (I changed the G00 to G01's and it did'nt gouge).
  11. quote: How hard are you planning to run your 4 lipped tool? I try to set up my machine to run all night ......Something always happens! Alarms out, Prog. runs out of tape during DNC!
  12. I've never run a "Hurco". I am a big Haas enthusiast though. mabe see if the Haas reseller can do a similar deal? It's definitly more than buying a car!......
  13. I can't remember (I know this has been covered) how to change the name of the keys. i.e. the "TOOLPATHS" button change to "BOB".
  14. quote: 36 gig 10000 rpm sata drive Corey, what's a sata drive?........
  15. First page of parameters: "canned text"......Mabe
  16. quote: 36 gig 10000 rpm sata drive WTF is that?
  17. quote: My Dell regens it in 62 seconds. The first time 1.500 mins. The second time 45sec. I have 4 cards in my comp. and running DNC, e-mail, explorer, SW 2004.
  18. Some of the guys here don't know how to use 10,000! I would love to use 42,000!
  19. quote: Musky Fishing What's a Musky?
  20. quote: Maybe with X? Seriously, Have you ever needed more than 255?
