  1. Hi ,Kasket. I had the same problem a day ago with a mould It seems that one or more of solid faces of the 2nd solid part lying on the face of first solid . Make the block higher so that the solid part will be fully inside .do the boolian remove and trim the block by parting line( you can make from parting line solid and do the boolian remove) Speaking about MC9sp1 try to avoid trim (by surface and so on) it makes sometimes trouble and use as much as possible boolian remove . Have a fun
  2. Wow ! That`s so cool and unreal . I`ve waited for so long ! Let`s make a clan of Mastercam Unreal fighters! Sometimes I want to use that cool flack cannon at work.
  3. Hi , All ! When I build a pc for somebody the last stage in my work I try it with Unreal Tournament. And I can tell you this is very good benchmark. And Geforce 4 Ti rocks with it , even Geforce 4 MX is not bad. Well Ati is another story. It is not bad but sometimes the results are unpredictable. May be I too conservative but I can not forgot all the bunch of ati ,SIS, s3virge and other cards that passed through my hands. Mastercam is not a critical program for a card , a difficult extensive grafic level with a lot of 3d action in game like unreal tournament shows more of what a videocard is capable. Speaking about Amd and Intel a year ago I told to everybody go with Amd now they are losing the race. p4 2.2 with L2 cache is a very good choice. Waiting for Unreal tournament 2003 official release to use it as a benchmark.
  4. Hi, James . It is a common mistake to believe that format destroys data. I can repair disk even after numerous formats and after an fdisk too. And I did it a couple of times restoring partitions and data . There are a lot of new good stuff for NTFS4&5 in this field too needless to say that you still can use diskedit and things like unformat . And you can restore ext2fs file system too. The better advice would be to use things like wipedisk from Norton Utilities. That will make far more trouble.
  5. Hi. There is one more way . Xform -> roll . Works only with wireframe but it is great. I used it a couple of times . 1.Make your letters. Xform->scale XYZ change scale in needed axes to needed proportion Xform-> roll and you can use 3d contour for an engaving. And it will be far more accurate than project a toolpath.
  6. Hi, ARTY2000 ! I work in moldmaking for 6 years. It will never die. It is challenging , cool and not bad money. You work with hard materials , high tolerance and without a right for mistake. Sometimes work is trivial and sometimes is very challenging but never time dull. In two words - it`s cool. Go do it and have a fun.
  7. Hi , Hugh.Venables ! You can have a look at ftp://mastercam:[email protected]/Ma...SURFCONTOUR.ZIP In such a manner you can use not only surface finish contour but other jobs also It is only demonstration file not for job.
  8. Hi , Trevor Bailey . Well , I have one - vertical mill center deckel-maho DMC-63V with sinumeric 810D. 810d doesn`t have 4 or 5 axes capability and 840D has. I have worked with it for approx. 5 years and have very mixed feelings. May be now they are different but I doubt because they use to move bugs from version to version. They have many really good features but the bugs and a couple of other things kill all. That`s why I use it but simply hate it . The simulation is so buggy that when you have simulation alarm that not always means that you can not execute a program . I call a representative of deckel-maho in Israel . < Oh yeah ,that `s a bug but we advice you to write a program in different manner. Can you correct it? He sais : it is not a secret that Siemence is a very big firm and you know how it is hard with big firms. They are the boss and do what they like. So when they will correct it? May be the next year or may be never. But anyway not on your machine couse there will be no update for it -the hardware is not suatable.> Is it nice? My fingers travel all over the keyboard for the things that in Okuma or fanuc where at the distance of one push of the button. The silly (and dangerouse) drilling cycles -all of them are in such a manner: T6 M6 M01 ; T6 -DRILL 13.5 DIA. - 13.5 G00 G64 G90 G54 X0. Y0. S430 CFTCP NORM M3 Z70. M8 F70. (that is a drilling feed) R0=0 R1=1. R2=-23. R3=-55. R4=0.5 R5=1. R10=70. R11=0.3 (that`s the call for drilling parameters) G83 X0. Y0. G80 and in every cycle all the R`s must be inputed cause you know guys what can happen ? or you can write in such a manner: CYCLE83(155,150,1,5,145,10,50,20,1,,0.5,1) IT`S COOL? Yeah? at the execution of the program in real time I see only 3 blocks: recent ,actual and the next. And they replaced to us a motherboard with processor , a display and a hard disk during the first year of using it . Naturally every repair took a couple of good days (the parts were sent by plane to Israel and so on). I worked with a lot of different controllers good and bad. I prefer Okuma and Fanuc. Okuma is very good and fanuc is good enough and very simple. This is my personal opinion . Good luck with Sinumeric ! And long live Okuma and Fanuc!
  9. HI , Hugh.Venables ! Try to use surface contour. Good luck.
  10. Hi ,Elad! I`ve done engaving with 3900 with Okuma5000v with geared spindel .Now I do it on 8000 on deckel -maho dmc63v and will do it on 15000 rpm if I`ll have. All the secret is good proportion between rpm and feed and a good cutter, I prefere to do cutters myself smthn like pyramid with 4 sides. Works good and fast enough on steel and copper. And for engaving and milling you can find end mills starting from 0.25-0.3 mm .I use them when angle is not allowed. Regarding various accelerators many of them nonreliable .
  11. Hi, I like black on white . It has strait working spirit in it. It is far more better for me then white on black. And it reminds me of a good times of DOS,Ndos or UniX shell. Please send white on black to /dev/null.
  12. Hi! Peter Scott said: BTW. Less use of Microsoft products tends to reduce the amount of errors with computers and applications. My colleague here says that when Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, it'll be a vacuum cleaner. > Let the Microsoft Mouse exist. They are good ,simple and reliable. I will leave for them also DOS which is good for diagnostgic purposes. For else - let the UNIX rule! And it is a pity that most of time I need to deal with Microsoft products . At home I prefer to use Mandrake Linux 8. Yes I know that it is most unlike to happen.
  13. Hi ,Bryan ! Many thanks for nice c-hooks . My favorite for quite a long time is menu. Well done and a lot of time-saving.
  14. MCFELIX ! I talked with Iscar rep . They are developing their libraries for mill .
  15. Hi ,Elad ! The answer is ....no simple way. But you can always find a way. In most cases the problem is with contours ,am I right? You can move contour to other layer, you can give enteties different colour, thickness and so on. Sometimes helps to turn enteties to spline or to make contour milling with a tool on center of the line and filter settings big enough to filter overlap and in backplot to save a toolpath as geometry that may be enough if not then you can put your problem enteties in one layer with all the atributes the same make spline from them and modify break many pieces segment lenth=0.001 after that delete duplicate enteties. I wish that helps. Have a fun
  16. Hi! My wish list for ver10.: To have numerous undo and redo also. To have a possibility to analize milled model in verify. To implement new toolpath: free -hand mouse-driven 2,5 axes milling like in many other cams Auramill, Nctool and others. In pocket job to have possibility to enter in simple angle slope . I want to have a possibility to work with user-defined parameters: at the operation manager before operations to define them like: Number Name Value 1 #A -0.07 2 #b 14 and so on and to have a possibility to use #A ,#b , and so on in any field of jobs second and third page Thus all the modification of electrode program from electrode-0.07 to electrode -0.3 will be to change parameter #a at the begining of the operation manager and to make regeneration I wish to have a possibility to mill any surface job with negative offset and flat- end mill. In old wireframe jobs like swep 2d job I want to have a toolpath according to scallope height I agree with Kathy it would be great it the Analyze Attributes function# of toolpath refs was expanded to show the actual operations and tools that are associated with the entity.
  17. Hi, all. I also use setdirs even made it my start-up c-hook
  18. Hugh.Venables ! My post is modified in such a way that after each M6 in the next line goes M01. Thus you can call the tool twice and it will stop if M01 is activied like Mbuster said !
  19. Hi , Nachum ! Wellcome to forum ! I propose not to use blessing but use spell. Xform - translate all entities- with a spell (put your spell here) LOL.
  20. Elad ! Mikhael meens that in enough sophisticated machine you can input ofset from the touch (from your current position ) automatically. I am not so lucky, but in my Deckel -Macho Dmc -63v with sinumeric 810 I see my current position in regard to my active home (G 54 for example)and active ofset and simply add this number to my current offset to the offset table with build-in calculator . Takes a couple of seconds and after reset I see my new active height (0 for example). Never had any problems.
  21. HI, Roger. You can delete the bad chain and add the new good one.
  22. HI ,Michael! I like Seco (sweedish firm). They are beeting Iscar all the way .They are bit pricie ,but the inserts serve far more and more productive. Elad! Have you met Ariye Elad -their distributor? His tel # is 052-702450 Nevertheless Iscar is not bad.
  23. HI , Elad! The cup of coffee and a cigarette is the must. Speaking serious if you are not making a lot of parts , like in mould production, it is a good idea not to take offsets all the time. I have smthn like 10 tools always in the magazine (central drill, rough mill12,end mill 12,insert mill20,insert mill25,end mill 6,drill5.8, drill23,ball mill 6,ball mill 8). whose offsets are tacking according to first constant tool like rough mill 12. So if my new setup will need them they are always by hand ready to go. I never take off any tool before I make new setup there is always a chance that I will need it. So without any presetter my tool setup is not more then 5-10 minutes. It consist of adding a couple of tools and changing the tools numbers according to magazine. Thus I can make 5-10 operations a day(including programming ) alone. And I like to work alone .You are the boss, nobody is fooling you ,you have a good time quickly making parts the way you like ,beeng sure in YOUR program, setup and tools. The setup speaking generally is very specific matter, always try to find the simplest way. I want to say a couple of words to Beav700 . Hey , man ! Come to Israel I will invite you to my place and plz show to us pure creatures how to work. But sorry without any presetter without any clever things you have and I will show you the speed of my setup and my results.
  24. Hi. When wou are doing electrode let`s say -0.3 mm with negative offset you must mill your check surfaces -0.3 also therefore it has a purpose and sence
  25. Hi, Pierre! You can do in autocad explode command ->from command prompt type-> explode. it will explode spline to arcs and lines. When you are doing the dxfout command try to save file in older version of dxf for example ver 12.
