Would it be the Edit/Open External Files (*.*) I'm not sure but try that -
Do you have X+ installed? If so, try changing it there.

In machine group properties, click the ! beside operation defaults, scroll up expand the properties and go into Tool settings and click it there

You can also get it in backplot, click the double blue arrows (chevrons) and click info.

settings-configuration-colors-go down to graphics background color and select your new color

If you want to open it in mastercam, what I do is convert it to a .dwg in cadkey.
