  2. Do you know you can also you delete only and then pick point, arces, lines splines and other things as a control as well as colors. I sometimes create different things as a different colors then do delete usign colors as control. I also will create my drill points on another level just as another way and keeping things straight. I hope they are things and ideas to help. Crazy Millman

  9. Well I 1000% love the VTC and QT machine from Mazak I could make these machine walk and talk. I did $750,00 dollars worth of work in one year by myself at one place with one mill and lathe. I did all of the simple and complex parts with no cam program and only Autocad LT. I hate to hear this about these machines and just wondered how it was possible ot d oall of these thing so quick and have all the bugs worked out. I was the same Way Drew they didnt get out checks on our equipment at a company I set up for 6 week after we had the machines. I was able to get alot of things the way I wanted very quick and had people there from corpate at one time wanting us to sign off and I wouldn't till I had put the Machine through it paces they were a VTC-30 and QT-250 both with PC fusion controllers. I also agree with your statement that just because they are the biggest doesnt make them the best. Here is to hoping Mazak figures out if he is Maziac or a real user. Crazy Millman
  10. Murlin I have also seen this is the Soild Manger has errors in it will show the soild fine but Crash like this soemtimes. Glad you got it going in your direction. The Murlin Avatar in in the Jpg and such on the Dtp as Murlin.gif if you want to get it from there. Sorry but just not able ot get any animation on it. Crazy Millman
  11. Well lee you could be doing a part i just got doen with. It was about 45 mb model file and when it was all said it doen between both side I ended up with 150 mb of toolpaths. I had to abondand one tool cruch I figured it was going to take about 1100 hours with surface/finish/scallop I left Friday about 5:00 pm went in Saturday about 3 and it had only figured about .250 of a 10.00 in part in that time so you do the math. I had to give up quality to get the part done but would have love ot have done it that way. You have greta epople helping you out on this problem and they have giving you greta adivce and direction. If going to get inot more complex stuff would go to 1 gig of memeory and get at least a p4 processor never heard any good things about the Athlon processors but maybe one of the other computer guys can tell you different. Good luck. Crazy Millman
  12. Well goes back to my favorite passage a time and place for everything. Just because this is the country it is, does it mean we make laws to allow things to be leagal to do for illegal people. If is going to be ok for thet illegal immgrant to get a licence then where will it stop. I mean they will have ti have insurace to get that licence right they will also have to have a SS number ot get that licence which will also mean they will have a registered car in which to take that test as well as an adress in which to put on the licence. I can see it now Crazy Millman I live on nowwhere street in Anywhere state america. I mean wit ha driver licence you can rent an apratment, rent a car, buy a gun at a gun show, buy thing that terriost would need tp make bombs and 1000's of thing that should be hard if they are illegal but yet we just make it easier for any one with the drive to do something wrong in this country more ability to do it. I just have ot shake my head at the guys wh otake any comment against this personal cuase I do get any breaks or nothing in life just like alot of other people in here. I am sorry if the country you came from was a bad one I am very gald to have you here and welcome anyone that can be here but there are many legal ways to become legal. I know all about the INS I will problay deal with them for the Next 20 years so, and I do the same thing and sit and wait in line and do all the things for my wife that is needed but I do it legal and keep everything in that legal and that is right and it will be right. Crazy Millman
  13. Nice looking truck but I can afford to go to bathroom out here in Calrorina so I am out of luck but looks good. +1 on James slammed with a blower come out of it really nice. Crazy Millman
  14. Here is an example for a Fadal: code: O9000 G0G17G40G49G80G90 T1M6 G0G90S10000M3E21X-1.Y.25 H1Z3.25M8 Z3.1 G1Z3.F20. X1.F200. G0Z3.25 E22X-1.4142Y0.Z3.25 Z3.1 G1Z3.F20. X1.4142F200. Z3.1 G0Z3.25 E23X-1.Y0.Z3.25 Z3.1 G1Z3.F20. X1.F200. Z3.1 G0Z3.25 E24X-1.4142Y0.Z3.25 Z3.1 G1Z3.F20. X1.4142F200. G0Z3.25 E25X-1.Y0.Z3.25 Z3.1 G1Z3.F20. X1.F200. G0Z3.25 E26X-1.4142Y0.Z3.25 Z3.1 G1Z3.F20. X1.4142F200. G0Z3.25 E27X-1.Y0.Z3.25 Z3.1 G1Z3.F20. X1.F200. G0Z3.25 E28X-1.4142Y0.Z3.25 Z3.1 G1Z3.F20. X1.4142F200. G0Z3.25 G0G91Z0. M2 This is done using the work offset vaule on the toolplane page in the parameter page. If it is a fanuc then you will have G54,G55,G56,G57,G58,G59 then from there depending on the machine it can possiible go to 70 but doubt it. Most machine go to a high number or soem other method like a G54.1. Crazy Millman
  15. Well it is alos goign to depend on the extent of control you are trying to achieve. I could recommned some sheet with critical dimensions like a fill in sheet on parts and have the guy sign off on every 5th part or so if doing 100's 10th part if doing 1000's. It could be as little as making sure you all check your micrometers to the same standards to extensive to every piece of metal that comes into the shop is tracked checked for certs and bar coded just depends on what your looking for. There is software out there like Job Boss that can help you track it all and tie it all together. It came become it own aninmal. I think you will find that if you have some people in your area that are willing to show your their system you can kinda see what fits your companies need. Crazy Millman
  16. Wel Bk when doing 4th axis stuff in Mastercam I have found you need to rememeber which view you are using to keep x pointed in the right direction as if you were looking at that surface as if it were in a top view look. If you look at the back and really pay attention to x it is facing the wrong direction so you then need to rotate it so x is going in the right direction this could possbile be what you are seeing also. I always use the center of rotation for origin and if not you will compound any clereance and retract moves. Crazy Millman [ 10-20-2003, 09:31 PM: Message edited by: Millman^Crazy ]
  17. Well Time is more and money is time so up to them to realize if you spend time waiting on a computer and that holds up the show then is it worth spendign a couple thousand dollars. I give you a thing I gave soemone esle we were in the same boat before I got here and I put it this way. If I have 4 machines wating 10 hours a week on a slow computer it has cost the company $2000 at $50 in lost time but really cost $4000 in real time and money cause that is time we could not put on other jobs. Now in one year that would cost the average comapny $208,000 a year in money and time to not but what ever computer you wanted. Just old crazy thoughts but hey what do I know about business I am just repsonbile for getting everything out the door on time and asked to do so in a way that is suppose to make money. Crazy Millman PS sounds liek to me you know what you need and what would work but I am sure one of the Tech guys on here will tell you if that hardware set-up will work like you want. I have a 3.06 with a 512mb side bus, 1 gig of memory, 40 gig harddrive, and a 256 mb viedo card. [ 10-20-2003, 07:24 PM: Message edited by: Millman^Crazy ]
  18. Are you doing this in a hortzional or Vertical I assume hort since you are using c and not a but could be wrong. It would also depend on the toolpath. If doing a part that rooldie would work for then you would see a great reduction in the moves. If you can put a sample aprt and tell use the post origianl like it on the cd I am sure someone can help you with this problem. Crazy Millman
  19. Yeah I dont think me at about 100 lbs would be cool I was at 135 after my accident though so I have put 65lb back on in the last 12 years. Weird it was 12 years ago sept 11 I woke up from being out for a few days in the car accident. Crazy Millman
  20. Hell I can just see me in the bathroom now with the freaking palm doing programs. I get enough from the wife now just see me driving down the road working on a post or my HTML set-up sheet problem on a Palm. Crazy Millman
  21. +1 on that from Rekd. No matter then psot have seen where you always need to do that. I also use clerance when doing 4th axis in addition to any ref point if using one if I have the travel on the machine to allow clerance. i have also noticed when using mpmaster and doing 4th axis moves it will add an extra z move in there. I figured out in the post where and why it was doing thta and took it out. I cant remember exactly what I did but it only took a couple tries and I had it doing good. Crazy Millman
  22. Thanks Drew now all I got to do is convince the owners that went to Disneyland today that and I will be batiign a 1000 so to speak. I agree they are not the Jap Machine but Dollar for Dollar at this point my best option to try to get my point across. They had not see a amchine rpaid over 400 ipm before me getting here and getting a newer used fadal. I thin kthey will shi? themselves when they see what I will make a SS machine do. I love talking to sales guy and teeling them what I am looking for in a machine and they huh you wanna do what. I was telling the Thremwood rep I was taking a 2" facemill and running it at 600 ipm on the Machine I had back in Jacksonville and could hear the you crazy in his voice. I would love ot see some demo footage of your machine ruuning if you got time and the ability please email me soemthing so I can show what real machines can do. Good luck and been nice talking to you in this thread dont be a stranger. Crazy Millman
  23. Well that goes hand and hand t omy commnets in another thread. The machine builders are more worried sbout getting something out the door to sell then making it better a majoity of the time. Crazy Millman
  24. Yeah I found out about the duty cycle on the Fadal after being here about a month 5 hours aat Max 10,000 rpm then got to let htem cool for atleast 15 minutes but they prefer 1 hour. I was only doing a 14 hour finish cycyle. I got a new spindle in the works on the 40 x 20 right now I am at hour 52 on a finish pass for part on that machine. 25. Yeha Rekd I felt that way when I had owners that wanted me to instuct guy to do dangouers thing I told them hell no I go to jail not you if he gets hurt. I am responsible for the things that I allow to go on becuase you may own it but I run it. Crazy Millman
