How did you perform the update? Was it using the File Import Directory (which by the way is my suggested method) or what we call on the fly method (that is where you are trying to use a file from a previous version and you are prompted to update)?

 

In cases where we did see a crash using the on the fly method, the file import directory method usually always worked.

 

Make sure to send in the error report and even send the original unconverted file in to [email protected] with a description of what you were doing.

It was 'on the fly'. I did the error report, and will go back and send a file when i get back to making chips!

I just finished the install and am trying to check out the Import SolidWorks history example part but it wont open. It says Part file could not be loaded

 

What version of SolidWorks does this work with?

I've used it with SW 07 08 and 09

You must have SolidWorks installed on the same computer as X3... when you tell X3 to import the history tree, it actually launches SolidWorks..

I really like bringing in the shaded STL files.

This is great for creating pictures for setup sheets of subsequent operations.

Solidworks is installed on the same PC as MCX3.

That may be the problem , SolidWorks is not starting.

 

SolidWorks version = 2007 sp5.

Now my Ops Manager is busted. Can't load any new machines....even in a new file!! WTF??

Found the problem with the solid part not loading... It's a newer version than what I am running.

X3 launches in Design.. you can change that in Config

 

Go to Machine Type and launch a machine from there

Yep, did that. Won't even work when I select from the Machine Type menu drop-down.

I have my set of machines that I always use...they won't load. I tried using the default machines that install with Mastercam, no luck there either.

 

and yes, they do show in the list. they just don't load. can't do any toolpaths.

Jim,

 

Open Mastercam...starts with black screen.

Draw a circle. so far, so good.

Save file- T.MCX

Select "Machine Type" from the Menu

Select "Mill" -flyout to all different types of machines.

Select ANY machine and nothing happens. OpsManager stays blank as if it were still in Design mode.

Jim, I did send 2 files in to QC. The original X2MR2SP1 that works and the same file after it was opened in X3.

Search your Mcamx3config folder for a MDM1202.prm and if it is there, close mastercam, rename the filr to prm.old and restart mastercam. see if this works for you.

Startup Product to mill

and see what happens

I think I've found something....The TrueType Font 'Technic' in the Ops Manager seems to be the culprit. I went and reset to Defaults in Ops Manager and was able to get a machine def to load. Changed the font to Technic and now the Machine group and Properties tree is visible but unresponsive. Changing back to the default font 'Tahoma' and all is good. Go figure.

I don't have "Technic" as an option in my font list. I'll have to check into this one.
