tool library

after installing X3 my tool library has been funny. I get get the diameter of the tools to show up, am I missing something in a setting or what?

Cant you just widen the row. Wear it says dia. Put your cursor up to it and drag it. I dont have X3 loaded but X2 works

I've edited the resource file to widen the entire dialog box. IMO, the tool info window is too small.

Now that I would like to know how ... how do you widen the dialog box using the resource file???

 

Also, in any dialog box like this (or Excel), if you move the cursor at the intersection of two columns and double-click, it will size the field to the maximum size depending on the contents of that field ... in case you didn't know!

A program like Resource Hacker (free) will let you do this. Here's my dialog box.

I haven't played around with resource hacker in years. Would have never thought of using it in a practical manner like that. I used to use it to swap out startup pictures in windows.

Download the program, but where about in the mcx directory do you find the dialog pages?

I had it done within 30 minutes of noticing this thread. Make sure to make the window wide enough the first time. Its a bit of a pain to have to go back and move everything a second time.

Opening the MCMILLRES.dll with res hack you will find the tree on the left side, If you go into Dialog folder, folder 131 it defines the basic (not high speed tp) dialog box. (H.S. Toolpath one is in MCcoreres.dll 10374 or 10344)

inside the file for each dialog box there are numbers like "0,0,400,252"

First number is where the object starts from the left,

Second number is where it start from the top, Third number is how wide it is,

Fourth is how tall it is.

If you change the tool library window (3rd number of first line that starts with "control") you need to change all dialog boxes (1st numbers) to the right of the tool library window.

I added 100 to all affected dialogs to widen the tool library window. Be sure to get the "ss_blackframes" also.
