setting 2 different offset locations

I am trying to figure out how to set 2 offset locations in X4. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

There are a couple of different ways to do this, so the question is exactly what are you trying to accomplish?

 

Are you programming a path once and need it in multiple locations?

 

If so, Toolpath Transform, is the answer.

 

Just make sure you enable the Tool Plane option to get access to the work offset option.

Quickest way if you want two work offsets is to go into view manager and copy TOP Plane for example and rename it to what you like. Then you can set that new one to your other geo position.

couldn't disagree more.. WCS is a powerful tool

I don't know how other CAM systems do it,

but WCS rocks.. IMO

thanks to everyone for the help. WCS is new to me, I have been trying to figure it out, but do not quite get it at the moment. We are trying to make use of 2 vices, but they will be making the same part. Also I would like to complete a toolpath before changing tools ie. spot drill both parts and so on. Thanks again.

Why do you guys not talk about Transform for something like this? I understand the question to mean using 2 vices. Maybe I am wrong, but I will go down this wrong road.

 

I would use transform. I added a file to the FTP called WORKOFFSET.Z2G this shows 3 different ways you can go about doing something simple like I think what you are asking is.

How do you get all that into verify?

I would guess he is saving off a solid only file and calling that in verify.

What are the steps in what you are doing? I need you to lead me down the road your taking. Without a map on how you are having a problem it is real hard to get to the same place you are??

How he saved out the solid models of the vise/parts and used those in verify. It crashes my machine when I try to do the same.
