Haas program extension

Well we just got a new Haas mill here and I am trying to get a program to it through the disk drive. I can't remember what the program extension should be for a Haas. Should it be like O1.nc ? I tried it but that didnt work. Not sure what to save it as any help would be apreciated.

I usually just put for example jay1.nc something short and easy to remember then hit F3.

Our 12 Haas VMC's all work without any extension. The newer VF-5TR will output with a .nc extension, but does not require a extension to read from a thumb drive or the DNC server.

Its a 2004 model. New to me.

.nc dosent work . Neither is .txt for some reason. Not sure what im doing wrong...

Can't figure out how to save it without a extension on cimco but I remember doing it that way when I used surfcam at another place.

O1234.txt works for me on the old 3.5 floppy

or before you click save(to your floppy), change the extension to .txt

in Cimco...save as the file name you want but save as a "TXT" type,but do not include the TXT in the actual file name. Cimco will automatically add it to the file as a txt extension...

Ok I got it. It seems the only way to get a program in is to have no extension. The only way i could save it without a extension was to save a program already in the Haas control to the floppy then I brought it to the computer overwrote the file with my new file and then loaded it into the Haas. There has to be another way?

Hmm, something def ain't right. On the non USB controls I would do just that, save as a .txt Call your HFO

Did you try editing the control definition you're using for the Haas in Mcam?

 

Open the control def and go to files in the control topics, delete the default nc file extension and leave the window blank. Save the control def.

 

You will need to reload the machine def in the operations manager for the changes to take effect in the current part file.

 

When you post the code it will be posted without a file extension.

What I do is put the floppy in and hit F4. It will come up as I believe program 8999 select it and press edit program. It will show all programs on the disk and the extension. HTH.

save the number in front of your program for example: O00002 and all you will need to do is hit rececive from disk and it should work.

.nc works fine on our old (2000) and new machines.

Just delete the file extension and resave, you will get a warning that the file might be unusable-just ignore it. I have done this many times on my HAAS and on my Tsugami Swiss with Fanuc control.

Scott, all our machines are hass and I have always back spaced the extension off all together.

Don't know why but all our HAAS machines use a CN1 extension..
