You may want to read thru this first.

Ftp upload instructions

Username-Mastercam

Password-Swiss

You will have to use IE to access it. If you still have problems, do a serch on FTP Site. There has been a ton of threads with all the problems solved in them. One of the most common is-

Internet options / Avanced Tab / uncheck " Use Passive FTP"

Hello ,folks .

I want to show tons of tricks with pocket toolpath ,but first of all kinda quiz .

Have a look on the file TPOKETPROBLEM.ZIP in

/mastercam_forum/Iskander_Lazytricks on cadcam

FTP site .

You will see 2 similar from the first glance operations and geo`s .

Can you say why the first toolpath no go ,and the

second one good ?

I will wait for the good answer .

Yes ,that`s absolutly true and you can easily generate this crossing geometry by mistake :

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The line .1 long created a crossing chain, which for some reason
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

if you have a step 10*30 mm and make chamfer 5.05 on contour with it you will get thing like that :

TR.jpg

This is a fault of mastercam chamfering algorithm and this is what I check first when pocket gives weird results :

sometimes even funnier than that and I have my ways to recreate complex geometry fast without them (analize contour or chain would not help here )

Now Mastercam pocket algorithm is very special ,not one other Cam I worked with has some features that you can achive using it and I will show this later

tHIS IS An old trick with pocket toolpath

(works in 99.9 % of cases )

Limitation (not stable on nested pockets )

Backplot your toolpath before machining

This is very useful thing when you use clamps with pockets

I draw the clamp + safety distance and use

clamp as geometry

If I want to move clamp i simply drag it to the other place and make regen

After the clamp change use pocket remachining toolpath

For ver9

wHEN YOU HAVE geometry too complex

like this hide0.jpg?t=1166783025

And you can not sort it by layers

looking at your geometry in chain manager would not give you too much

I do this

In chain manager proceed to add geometry

press Alt+E to start hide function

select some not related geometry like one point

press done

all your screen will be free from geometry

Press backup

select your geometry and you will see all the entities related

iN x2 YOU DO NOT NEED IT

You have "only display associative geometry " button

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Only display associative geometry - Displays all geometry associated with the selected operations. This includes geometry that was previously hidden or blanked using Screen menu functions, and geometry on levels that were not marked as Visible in the Level Manager.
