BTW, Your words are giving a better visual than anything I've heard here. Keep up the play-by-play, but from a safe distance.

As of 12:00 it was still bad in alot of places and they onlt feel liek that can ge ta control on this in 10 days so we will see. Guy keep these people and palces in your prayer they need it about 650 homes gone right now 250,000 acres and loss of life.

We made it through the night; won't be at work today at all as the police are asking everyone to stay home unless it's critical.

Winds slower overnight, but they are predicting high winds and 20-40%% humidity again today. So far 176 days without measurable rain, so things are really dry out there; not good.

Sky is clear over our house today so far.

200,000 acres burned, 11 dead, at least 360 homes burned in SD alone.

Just got a look at the map in the local newspaper. We dodged a bullet: the fire came within 3 miles of business, and 2 miles of our house, passing south and east.

Here in Ontario, there is a lot of smoke

high in the sky. Its not nearly as bad as it

was Saturday. The good news is the wind.

There isn't any at the moment. It is dead calm

outside. Hopefully it will stay that way

all day and the water bombers can get some

good work in today.

We made it thru so far. It came very very close last nite. I sat up and watched 'til 3:00am then gave up and went to bed. It had died down somewhat at that time, and my neighbors were still up on their roof watching out.

Some of you might have seen the reports on the news about Escondido and the Valley Center fires. Most of the images they were showing from 7:00pm on were the same images I saw all nite from my living room. Very close, very nerve-wracking, very lucky.

I can't see anything now so I'm not sure how far off it is. Smoke everywhere, but I can't see plumes to detect where the fires actually are.

News isn't covering this area any more so I think it's somewhat safe. I'm debating taking a walk over to see if it's contained so I can start getting back to normal.

My sister-in-law and the operations manager at my work live about a mile from each other down in East Lake in Chula Vista. They're still intact there but it's not looking good. They may get into trouble later today. We'll see how the wind goes.

I'm not going to work today, roads are closed. I could prolly take the scenic route thru Arizona, but it's not worth the commute.. biggrin.gif

8:47 am San Diego

It is now darker outside than it was two hours ago! Much haze and smoke.

The fear is now that the separate fires will link up into one super-fire.

At least 5 days to contain if good conditions remain.

On the good side:

> zero looting

> everyone is keeping calm and cool

> people are staying home to keep the roads clear

> people are doing whatever the authorities ask

> many people and businesses are pitching in to help any way they can

San Diego: 10:15 PST

Getting worse. 60MPH winds in eastern part of county. County is pretty much bisected North to South along its center. eek.gif

Alpine now burning. SD Country Estates back burning strong again. Fires nowhere being contained. Govt says help on the way, but we see no air tankers which will be needed if there is any hope of slowing the damage.

Deaths mounting as some people are waiting too long to evacuate, and then getting caught in their cars.

This thing moves so fast you can't believe it. If you're asked to get out, don't dally; run like hell.
