Which UMC750 Post Processor?

Hi All,

Awaiting Delivery of our Haas UMC-750 and speaking to our Local Mastercam Rep, I was told that there are 3 different posts that they sell for this machine.   They asked if I wanted the CNC Software version, the In-House version or the Postology version.

Can those who are currently using these weigh in and share any specifics you like , love or hate about any of the 3 as well as any known limitations, bugs or special features?  I would love to know your experience with them before making a decision.

If by some strange circumstance, one of you happens to own all 3 of them concurrently and can objectively compare them to each other (I know I am dreaming), I will buy us a pitcher of beer  for the opportunity to pick your brain!

We use the Postability  post, it works very well for us. No matter which you choose, there will be some tuning necessary, the guys at Postability are usually pretty quick at making any edits you need.

As for features, I'd recommend the peck tapping & decreasing peck depth drilling options be enabled. And our post uses a misc real to select between rough, medium & finish HSM modes.

I am sure we will need to do tuning! That is good to know, service means a lot these days when they lock us out and we can not make the post changes our selves.

I was looking at Camplete based on some past posts I had read on here. Sent an inquiry form via their website yesterday but hadn't heard back yet. I wasn't 100% sure that they actually offer the post or just the verification.

They do (post and verification/collision detection) and it's an awesome setup, but with the price to match. Definitely worth it if there is money in the budged for it.

Yes they do and you get the Post and Gcode simulation as part of the purchase.

As he said !

Postability here. With some custom tweeks added including the HSM options, deep hole drilling cycle and some retract homing control.

Generally pretty fast with response even going third hand through our reseller.

No that is a internally developed one using the old Gen5Axis I believe.

CAMPlete using the Kinematics of the machine to post the code so it is the most versatile of all. With CAMPlete you need to make a minor adjustment to any thing related to the parts placement on the machine you can do it all in there. You want to change moves to limit them to one section you can do it there. You have tons of power using the CAMPlete process that is not even in the same realm of what a Basic post can do from Mastercam since they are not Kinematically aware the same way CAMPlete is. You must fall back Mastercam and change things in the file regenerate the operation and then post the code. Yes it comes with a price, but a one crash one scrapped part for the most part pays for this prudent investment. Cheap out like so many do and build you own. Crash the machine and tear something up really up to the people you work for if they want to empower you to do your job or if they want you to struggle at it.

What specifics? Post is a Post so what more do you need?
