This is not a plug and play system. There are a lot of things you need to do which are not well documented.
You need at least an X7 or X8 post. If your post is older it will not have the correct codes. I have done mine in X9.
No actual book. Lots of bits of info scattered everywhere. Mostly Renishaw PDFs.
The macros you have loaded on to your HAAS for the onboard conversational probing have nothing to do with Productivity+. You can use them but Prod+ has its own macros too, which are essential.
I'm stumped. I logged this as D-37697 "Finish/pencil fails to yield toolpath". I get a similar failure with HST-Pencil (same two drive surfaces, same tool). Maybe this has something to do with the surfaces being somewhat far from the Cartesian origin. If I translate/move the geometry +800 in X and regen, path motion is output.
Here's a work-around: add a check surface to the finish/pencil operation. It can be anywhere (well away from the part). Now regen. This time, you'll get a path output. The presence of the check geometry causes a slightly different algorithm to be used, one which yields a result.
Thanks! Have one of those actually floating around i just didnt know who made it.
Yeah tool holders for this machine aren't cheap. We use a lot of Big Kaiser for milling, and sandvik capto for turning. Just wanted to find a slightly more cost effective option , if possible... Another pain is it being big - plus. Luckily a lot more companies are making big plus connection now.
What do you mean no accurate way to index ? It is a mill turn machine, the spindle can be clamped for turning work, no problem.. It is what the machine is built for .
RIGHT CLICK IN THE OPERATIONS MANAGER
SELECT
THEN PUT YOUR TOOL NUMBER IN
AND IT WILL SELECT ALL THE OPERATIONS THAT USE THAT TOOL
OOPS SORRY FOR CAPS LOCK
I use the Carmex Thread MIll wizard
This thread mill wizard rocks!!!!
They call their line of Left hand thread mill cutters Hard Cut and they work very well
I just finished 2 big titanium rings that are the interface between a satellite and the rocket putting it into orbit
These parts had about 200 hours each in VTL time when I got them and a team on standby waiting to mount the satellite
to the rocket for a launch this summer. I did NOT want to screw these parts up.
They each had about 60 M4 x 7 blind holes in them. I used Carmex Hard Cuts and got them all done with no issues.
That was stressful work.
I have success! It was a combination of errors on my behalf. I changed to a "Constant Scallop" and I reset the "total tolerance", set starting point to the center of the outside diameter of the groove , turned on the filter ratio, set it to 1:3, & used 1.8 min r. & 1.97 max r.
It returned a radius cut instead of linear moves. Smoothing out my passes.
I would like to Thank everyone for your help.
sound like a simple and robust solution. I know a certain macturn with BT40 holders uses an index pin for lathe holders. pretty rare and crazy, they are.
I know a guy who bump the chuck and got the BT lathe holder spinning at the same speed,
