  1. You can also right click the level manager and improt the csv file from Foghorn as well. Damn, you guys are good. Thanks a ton!!!!!! Tony, hadnt messed with the view sheets any. May have to investigate it though. That way I could have my vise or chuck files already in there as well.
  2. I use the OP library a ton. I have standards set for tools etc. Just looking for a better way to set all my levels like I want and not have to type them every time. I will check out your VB script.
  3. Hey guys, I was wondering, what is the best way to set up a template in mastercam like I would have in AutoCad. I try to organize everything on its own level in MasterCam like I do with layers in AutoCad. Whats the best way to have a standard I can use for every job. Is having a standard and importing the drawing into it the best way? Just looking for something faster. Thanks,
  4. Dan, I got with my IT guy, he said we may go ahead and put another drive in just in case since its not that much of a cost. Whats another $150 or so with a box like this anyways. Jeff, I done more research last night and the 3930K is the better chip. I think I am going with the newer 4930K chip for almost the same money but a little faster. I almost have the build components nailed down. Any suggestions where components can be purchased for the best prices. Or, is it better to buy from several places? I try to get at least 4 years and sometimes 5 if I can out of my boxes so I dont cheap out. I see so many small shops like myself cheap out to save money and it cost them every day. Not only with computers but tooling. I had a guy not long ago ask me how I could afford to use carbide cutters. I said are you serious, how can you afford not too. He still uses China made HSS.
  5. I'm not up to speed on all these different processors. Jay, you said look at the i7 3930K. Would this i7 4770K be better? What am I looking for exactly?
  6. OK Guys, does this one look better? 7. Jay, Yes its from Dell. I was looking yesterday at the outlet store and they had this box for a little over $2K which is a good price. But, I did some research last night and decided to go with the i7 chips since it seems they are faster. I am going to stay with the 256G drive as they have came way down in price. I keep my files on a server any ways so space isnt a huge issue. I will look at the 4000K card. Wish I could change the chips in this box from the xeon to the i7. I would order it today.

  9. I have an ATRUMP mill with MC built into it. It is Mill level 1, we have never used it. We use this old granny to engrave parts mostly and sometimes rough stock removal. I opened the MC once and seen how old it was, it gave me cold chills until I could get it closed Reminded me of how old I am. I started with MC in Ver. 3
  10. Just letting you guys know I posted a job in the Job Opportunities section a few minutes ago.
  11. We have had both here. We started with E2 and changed to Job Boss a few months ago. E2 is the same system that was build back in 2004 with only eye candy and bug fixes since. They have promised since 2005 the release of Version 8 and it never happens. Its always in development or its coming out soon. We got tired of the run around and made the switch to Job Boss. We are still in the learning stages but like it much better than E2. E2 talks a good game but never honors what they tell you. Ask them when Version 8 is coming out.
  12. Any suggestions on M12X1.75 indexable thread mills. Seems no one makes them. Is it better (cost effective) to indexable single point or solid carbide? Need over 1" length of threads. I thought since M12X1.75 was a standard size it would be no issue. Guess I was wrong!!
  13. The sad thing is they never have a version out long enough to fix anything. The just keep on throwing little gadgets here and there for us all to continue paying maintenance every year. The second sad thing is.......There all that way. Until some class action stuff is brought against the GREEDY software companies it will never change. Pay to update and Pay to fix it. Never gonna end.
  14. No, Actually Im looking for a 2 axis cnc knee mill and a new machining center. Sorry if I didnt explain it better.
  15. Looking for a cnc knee mill. What are the best ones? Are their any made anywhere other than Taiwan? CNC Vertical Machining Centers......40 x 20 x 20, 12000 RPM Spindle, Arm tool Changer, Thru tool coolant, 4th Axis capable. Dont want Haas, Fadal or similar. Dont need HIGH END, but would like US or Japan built. What would best 3 be. I know its all a matter of opinion.
  16. Been doing pretty good. Has been a bumpy ride the last couple years.
  17. I see things havent changed much then.
  18. They have promised a new version for well over 4 years to fix the inventory lengths to decimal. Their materials inventory only does whole numbers no decimals. So here is our problem. We quote a job using Ø6 x 24.375" of CPM 15V. We get the job, system looks into inventory and we dont have stock so it creates an order to order it but it rounds the number to 24", we receive material and its too short. So, the inventory module is useless for the most part. This one of many issues we have run into. Just not worth the fight any more. We were promised version 8 at IMTS in 2006. We are still on Version 7 but like most software companies, they expect you to pay your maint. every year. Our maint. used to be based off what we paid for the software then they changed it to a percentage of the retail price. Our fees almost doubled.
  19. Anyone here using Job Boss? How do you like it? How is the support? Ive been using E2 for over 8 years and Im tired of their lies.
  20. Everyone just keep paying maintenance that will teach em. When people stop paying for maintenance until they fix the crap youve already paid for they will listen. Until then THEY DONT GIVE A CHIT, they already have your money.
  21. Another reason I will stay at X2MR2 for a bit longer.
  22. But the pisser is. If you have Lathe,Wire and Mill, you have to PAY FOR updates to all 3 to get updates for Mill. Thats why when something is said to me about updating my maintenance. I give CNC Software the good ole 1 finger salute. Its a RIP OFF plain and simple. You pay software that doesnt work and pay to "update" it to fix it. Thats just wrong to me and every user CNC has should BOYCOTT their xxxx. I guarantee you if everyone stops paying maintenance until it changes it will change. But, you have some that thinks CNC are the GODs of programming software and will never do anything to change it.
  23. I have dropped maintenance all together. Its not worth the coin you have to spend to keep it up. You get nothing for Lathe or Wire and eye candy for Mill that doesnt work most of the time.
  24. Thats some scary stuff right there. Thats the joy of having MasterCam X3. Here lately you never know what to trust and what not too. X3 was a HUGE waste of time and money.
