  1. I have a Hurco KN3P with the Ultimax control. It's set up to recieve files from a desktop computer through a DB9 serial port. I'm trying to switch it over to a laptop with only USB connections. (emergency back up scenario) How do i configure a com port over a USB port in Windows XP home edition?
  2. I was thinking they might want to look into a professional web design service.
  3. As I understand it, the Quadro series are designed specifically for "industrial" use....Cad/Cam, 3D Modeling and Professionl video applictions. The GeForce cards are for gamers.
  4. Hardmill, I'd like to know what is the best combination (Tool/Feed/Speed) for roughing a flood welded forging die.
  5. Steve, currently using Nvidia's Forceware 81.67, but thinking of going back. My only complaint is that when you Translate/Move an object, the screen doesn't redraw immediately and the original geometry remains on the screen until you move the screen.
  6. Create the Sphere, save as STL file, use Restmill?
  7. I can think of a time or two when that might come in handy!
  8. I'd like to have the option of moving the icons in Ops Manager so that ALL of them are on one row....can't tell ya how many times I've gone to turn a toolpath on or of and hit Regen by mistake! LOL
  9. 2 Mazak VTC300C's and a Takumi Sekei VT10A here. Have a new Sharp vertical bridge scheduled to be set up in the next few weeks, not sure how that's gonna turn out. The Mazaks are great and the Takumi, while small, has been quite truoble free for the last 8 years or so.
  10. try a smaller diameter nozzle. you get a more concentrated, and stronger flow with way less air pressure. ours are about 1/16" dia......the sound of the chips hitting the window covers the noise from the nozzles.
  11. in the problematic chain, is there a radius smaller than the tool radius? I have seen this before, and that is usually the reason, as far as I know. Offset the chain equal to the tool radius and run it on Center if you need it to stay inside a specific area.
  12. Heavy, make sure your Comp. is set to Tip. there is a Cut Depth parameter which you can set to Absolute. In any case, your first cut should be limited to you Max Stepdown value, I would think.
  13. Heavy, If you want to check a radius size, you can Create/Curve/Flowline on the fillet surf you're interested in and then measure the curve. I, personally, would get everything I could with the biggest, most rigid tool I had, and then step down from there to finish....the 3/4 sounds like a good start. Tavares, Fl is just about 30 mi. North of Orlando....close enough to be convenient, far enough to be out of the way......LOL I'll check the file lat4er on this afternoon...
  14. In this case, it's a surface in which it's normal reverses....basically a surface with a 180 degree twist.
  15. Heavy, Something I found last night..there are 3 bad surfaces on that model.....one is the vertical wall on the top(blue) that we were using as a Check Surface. The other two are on the bottom side, fillet surfs, if I remember correctly. They're not bad enough to impact the final product, however, they will slow down your computer while proccessing toolpaths, especially when using the smaller tools and tighter tolerences. Use Analyze/Surfaces/Test Norms to find them.
  16. I get F0. occaisionally, myself. happens in all surface toolpaths, seems totally random. I've just gotten into the habit of searching all my programs for F0.
  17. Heavy, Not a problem, I enjoy helping out where I can.
  18. Heavy, Ok, I think I got it now. Check out your file from this morning....
  19. Sorry, didn't mean to leave ya hangin...had to go do some work..... I ws running into the same problem here...computer hang....I'll take a whack at it later on this evening when i get home
  20. actually, al i did was adjust the step down to .031 that will usually fix what happened the first time..if you look close, there was one stay cut that took out all that material.
  21. The company box is a Dell Precision 670 w/ Dual 3.2 Xeon Procesors, 4Gb Ram and a Quadro FX4500 w/ 512Mb Ram. I'm running your job on my lil Toshiba Laptop P4 2.4 512 Ram and an ATI Video card.....BTW...I'm redoing the contour toolpath..should have it up in a few mins
  22. Heavy, Check out the file you uploaded this morning, this morning. this is how I would do it.
  23. one thing I did see.....you need to pick all the surfaces around the single surface as Check. Otherwise the tool will want to roll around the edges of the drive surface....either that or use a containment boundary.
