  1. Thanks for the replies, gentlemen! What kind of "stuff", newbeeee?
  2. I have been given the OK to buy a g code backplotter. I tried the Cimco Edit V6 awhile back, and it seemed to work OK except it had issues with horizontal work. Was that just the demo, or is that a real problem? I just downloaded a demo of NCplot which I haven't had a chance to investigate much, but it looks like it's about half the cost of the Cimco. Can anyone shed some light here? Thanks in advance.
  3. I have a new job with AMC Xfine 217 aluminum. Has anyone worked with this? I have some small tapped holes and pretty simple milling. Thanks.
  4. How are you drilling the holes? Maybe they are work hardened, or maybe they are close to a welded area? We use Scientific threadmills with 4 teeth, last month did 200 4-40 holes in titanium with 1 tool.
  5. This is probably a really dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. When go to edit the control definition, the new window is down so low on the screen you can only see the top line, just enough to grab it and drag it up. This started when I first installed X6. Thanks.
  6. Thanks guys. We don't have anything right now, but my guess is that we will transfer the data via ethernet if they decide to buy one.
  7. Our new programmer has recommended a Speroni. We have a demo in the shop right now that looks pretty nice. Is there another brand I should be looking at? Thanks in advance.
  8. Where is this? I can't find it. I found 6 items under Documentation but where is the Readme? I need this to tell management to fork over a couple of new computers.
  9. That works for me too in X5, but not in X4. Anyone know the trick? This is in Win 7 64 bit.
  10. Multi-threading for 2D high speed toolpaths.
  11. Thanks. We got more tool life with the slower feedrate in this case. Maybe 125 IPM would work with a smaller stepover, but I was only going .015 with a 1/4 in 4 flute. 60 IPM at 5000 RPM seemed to work best. This stuff was especially hard.
  12. This problem annoys me immensely. Isn't it logical to want to import from a proven program? I just finish a job with about 70 operations, lefts and rights. Way too many mouse clicks.
  13. I've got a bunch of M2 tapped holes in 6al 4v Titanium. I am testing out a .054 dia threadmill, .032 shank, 10K rpm. Looks like the rough pass stepover posts half of the value, unless they accidentally gave me decaf and I'm still asleep. I'm on X5 MU1. Can anyone clue me in on how much stepover I need.? I'm afraid to go much more than .003.
  14. Thanks! I'm only going 50 IPM, so I should be really safe.
  15. I am trying to dynamic mill Ti 6AL-4V with a 1/4" 4 flute coated Hanita stubby. Can anyone suggest RPM, feedrate and stepover? We are eating them up pretty fast.
  16. Yes, but Livermore is in the valley, just minutes from Tracy and Manteca, where housing prices have been decimated by foreclosures. Several of my co-workers from there are underwater. Check real estate listings and you will see what I mean.
  17. You must have a lot of them. For example, 3 just for spot, drill and tap? Does your machine orient them? Thanks!
