  1. Don, put yourpost up or email it to me. I think the problem is either that one of the misc ops is writing incorrectly to buffer or messing up the buf count.
  2. Ted Check your email. I imported the 3dm you sent (could have done the iges also) then I: 1. Change color to red. Create-curve-all-edges then delete-duplicate-enities 2. Change color to blue change cplane to 3d modify-break-spline2arcs-all-splines 3. change cplane back to top and wireframe toolpath it
  3. What machine are you connecting to? Also are you using the mastercam editor to dnc?
  4. Haas sells simulators and they are very useful. You can have 5 students making progs and only tie the machine up when cutting parts. There is also software available that allows to view the results of an nc prog such as vericut, cimcoedit, metacut, predator... I think these could be useful with larger class sizes and 1-2 machines.
  5. Lightnin I had the best results with surf-fin-contour on lamp
  6. Yes regen produces bad code, re-pathing produces good code
  7. I look at your part, the bottom rad is .0625. This sucks cause that menas to cut it smooth you have to use a .125 ball. With the pocket being as deep as it is you need to cut it close with a .25 then make multi passes outward with the .125 to keep from deflecting. For the fininsh you might try using finish project.
  8. mkd I have customers that need the holder collison also. What they do is draw the tool and holder as a custom tool.
  9. If Wuf Man makes the program on one pc it works fine. On the second pc it gets this strange rapid in it. If you take the mc9 with toolpaths to the 1st(good) pc it posts the strange rapid. We thought we had it figured out by turning the graphics acc down, but reappeared earlier this week. They have been cutting molds for a couple of years using the same process.
  10. Bernie He did call his dealer, I told him to come here. He's got quite a few surface parts coming up to do. He's been programming/ writing posts for a long time, but is just now gettining into surfacing in his shop. Lightning I'm Downloading it now, and will take a look.
  11. Have you ran the update post dll yet? It will create a mach def that you can use with your post. There is a head/head generic machine in the defaults that you can take a look at if you want to create/edit your own also.
  12. The siemens controls are very user friendly once you get used to them. They have alot of custom macros and it is reletivly easy to create your own. The macro language comes with the control as far as I know and is comparable to fanuc's macro B (which is extra with fanuc.) HTH
  13. He's wondering if V8 riuter comes with nesting. I think it came with rectangular nesting.
  14. George Normally post fixes dont take long to get back, but the last month and a half have not been normal. With the release of X came a flood of tech calls and post update requests. Things have settled down quite abit to allow for "catching up". Jimmy teh "Only a week behind and gaining ground."
  15. Oh yea, remember also to minimize your exposure also by doin one deal at a time. Money is money and you dont wanna open yourself up to get hosed.
  16. The bad thing is that he is using gibbscam instead of mc. The way it works. Customer gets free cam file from tool rep/contract programmer. Then needs a change. (they always do eventually) they need to open file, so buy cam. The cost of cam compared to tooling costs is very small in most shops so the sale is usually just a call to order. One thing to keep in mind is: perspective#1 If a tool guy provides nc for customer then contract programmer gets no work If a contract programmer provides programs for customer then mc dealer gets no sale perspective #2 With tool guy, contract programmer and mc guy working together then everyone can coexist and make money. We do high speed/production seminars that include Mastercam's role, tooling aspects, coating aspects, and at the next one coolant stuff. By working with these guys I end up selling more mc.(I'm represented in more shops). The tool guy and a certain contract programmer have done joint projects also that came from me talking them up. So every one makes more sales/money. My recomendation would be to try to build a relationship with tool guy if you can. Otherwise it will cost you work.
  17. The problem maybe that you are used to thermwoods coord system which is reverse from most machines. There is a switch that may help in post xmultiplier ? also I have used scalex to switch the coords around. Are you trying to adapt your therm post for the axyz?
  18. I work with a tool sales guy that does similar stuff. Once they get into a company selling tools there is a good residual income. One thing you can do as a contract programmer is to talk to him bout makin progs for him.
  19. Missed you at the X seminar. Are you going to attend one of the make seminars?
  20. when you run the exe it will minimize itself and stay running for a few minutes then go away.
  21. Yes it can I sent this topic to the post dept so they can get it worked out. This is also affecting prapidout. Lemme think about it and I'll puty up some code to keep the g1 lines clean
  22. Thad Check this topic, I think you'll find it applies to prapidout also http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...ic;f=1;t=016956
  23. Mark, I have been able to duplicate it by setting plunge feed same as cut feed. This is what's happening. In plinout there the "`" if front of sgcode (`sgcode) tells the post to only output the gcode if something else is also coming out, otherwise hold on to it. It does keep from outputting, but updates the pprv_gcode$ var which is wrong. I tested by doing: code: plinout #Output to NC of linear movement - feed "JIM-test1",prv_gcode$,e$ pcan1, pbld, n$, sgplane, `sgcode, sgabsinc, pccdia, pxout, pyout, pzout, feed, strcantext, scoolant, e$ "JIM-test2",prv_gcode$,e$ For now you can take the "`" from in front of the sgcode or set plunge feed dif from cut feed.
  24. if you look down in your postblock "parc" arcoutput$ is being changed according to what plane your in. You can take a look at mpfan's parc and fix your post, but someone went through quite a bit of trouble to set up the plane thing in post for some reason. make a copy of post before changing and let us know how its going.
