  1. Who all is attending an htec in their region? Here is a link to the Southern Region AIMS/HTEC Educators Conference Feb 25th and 26th. http://www.htecnetwork.org/training.cfm?th...=25&startItem=0
  2. What about some quotes? The customers of mine that you've worked with all have great things to say. (BTW, looks like I'll be sending a few more.) The site looks great.
  3. Hey Lightnin. The post should already have it built in if its generic. Look at the mpfan post inder the pwcs postblock. Also look at the string select area for g_wcs. YOu can put as many as you need in there. If you have any problems, just holler at me.
  4. Great to see you back. You'll have to drive out to nc for a beer though.
  5. Hey this time I was only slow, usually I am slow and wrong
  6. Until the enhancement comes out you can create two toolpath groups. Call the first one original and the second one toolpaths. All the ghosted paths need to be in the first one. You can just select the second one for backplotting and verify that way without having to uncheck everytime.
  7. The macro uses pixel location when picking stuff. One thing you can try is to add a fit screen and unzoom by .8. Then select with window by clicking near the extremeties of the screen. Macros will only work on the pc they are created on also, cause of the pixel thing. You may want to consider looking into vbscripting instead.
  8. The inhouse post will take care of the tcp and also it will allow for the look ahead function settings (G05's). Look at the code carefully as it may invoke a g49 when using a G05. Depending on how your machine is setup this could be bad news. When invoking tcp you want to be at a0c0. To switch between G43 and G43.4 you can use a misc switch or check toolpathtype to determine which one. Then in the tool changes sections just set up two G43 output lines with if statements.
  9. On haas lathe sometimes we use just the default and others use the haas sl post. The code is pretty close (but any hand editing sucks) I checked the mplmaster post series and was surprized not to see haas on that list. (Maybe because the code is pretty standard.) Maybe Tyler can sweet talk the post guys into putting one up there or one of you guys that have set up the sl series from mplmaster can send it to Tyler. We have been using the mpmaster and mplmaster as a starting since X4. Inhouse sells a mpmaster post training tutorial that is helpful for users that are wanting to start "post tinkering", and alot of members are using them so help is readily available. Bryan did you start with mplmaster, or just open up a new txt document and go from scrath? Will catch up with you next week in ct.
  10. +1 to dynamic mill full depth. I am abit conservitive on step over, 30% of tool.
  11. Check into getting Mstercan U, its a very good way to make the transition and very affordable.
  12. One of the tool guys I work with told me to step over %30 or 70%. Nothing in between, something bout chip removal... Not sure. Alvaro we are doing seminars around the carolinas so people can see the paths run. It sounds so salesy when you tell them bout the cycle time reduction, they need to see it. I am also doing a presentation at South Tec with Stewart-Haas Racing on Rapid Response Manufacturing, I hope alot of my customers walk out of there wanting to try this stuff. Once a customer tries the first path they get hooked.
  13. Awesome. We have been testing all the new highspeed paths, they are great. I have been working with tooling guys to get their input as well. These paths will make customers more competetive. Bottom line. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Since you are using a lathe tool and "turning" the groove its pretty neat, but hang with me. Its not going to happen without a very custom post. I have done posts for 5ax grinders that change the angle of the wheel has it moves along contour, same concept. If you have curve 5ax (mill path) then use it. create vector lines representonting the angles you want coming off the groove contour. (Maybe break the contour to control better twhere the changes happen) Go into toolpaths-mill-curve5ax select the groove as curve select your vector lines for tilt post the code and edit to turn instead of mill. (Make sure your using tcp in control or you need to offset groove geo to center of rotation) If you do not have curve5ax then make tool path. Still create vector lines as above. Make toolpath as normal. Use vector lines to get angles and edit nc code with tilts. If your just doing one part like this the above options are adequate. If you are going to do alot of parts like this give us a call and we'll get the function put into your post.
  15. I have been doing testing on machines that utilize aicc or highspeed smoothing of their own and notice that the cycle times are shorter when turning that off in the machine. Anyone else testing the different machine/mastercam options against each other?
  16. peon do you have multi threading turned off? When using multi thread and toolpath refinement I was getting surface violations when processing two toolpaths at one time. This has been fixed for mu1.
  17. scc1 I do that sometimes and others take a pic of the backplot info screen.
  18. The new active reports are great, but I can't figure out how to get the cycle times more accurate. Any ideas?
  19. YOu can download mpmaster post here. Inhouse has a tutorial for editing mpmaster. ITs a good place to start. In the post you have now look for pdrill$, in that section is where the G98/G99 comes out on drill cycs.
  20. Search function rules! I helped a customer today set up an 18i control, and got it figured out with this thread. Thanks guys. (A little belated. There were several threads showed up when searching for "fanuc ethernet" that helped)
  21. Check out Mastercam U. It tracks progress and you can also see how everyone is doing on the tests.
  22. Is the model fairly large? Basically the stl file is output with cimco's hsm and it uses it to create the toolpaths. I haven't heard back yet, but off the top of my head: Could be the size of the file. If you have imported an stl into mastercam and changed some of the import options it may be tripping up the stl export.
  23. I do the first of our rollout seminars tomorrow. For those of you who have already been to one, what did you think?
  24. Have your dealer check with cnc software, I remember one that someone had worked on.
  25. The X4 rollouts are being done world wide in June. All US dealers are participating. (We have 7 planned so far and 2 webinars, and a new gbaby due May23rd ) The official site: http://www.mastercam.com/X4Rollout/Default.aspx There are alot of new tools in X4 to improve programming time. If you are unable to make a seminar, sign up for a webinar.
