Seems to be more of an issue using solids for toolpaths as mentioned above, I will have to try with surfaces

I have had problems recently trying to post the tape file, unhandled exception, this happened about 10 times in a row, then cleaned out the temp file and still did it, then the problem disappeared.

Wait for MU1, hope that it fixes alot of issues, hope that you are on maintenance at the time it comes out or be stuck with the current set of bugs forever.

Ok starting to see alot more bugs in X4 the more that I use it, go in to look at operation parameters and make no changes then I have to regen most of the source, what gives?

I think X2MR2 SP1 had the most bugs, X4 has been very stable for me. I do agree that X4 should have been more thoroughly tested before being released as many users are having issues with bugs, why rush out the newest release only to frustrate the users who depend on this software on a daily basis?

X2 MR2 SP1 gave me nothing but constant crashes, then I reverted back to MR2 and the crashes went away, I would not recommend using SP1 for anything other than to make extra work for yourself.

Depends on how complicated the part is, for basic stuff I use Mastercam for design as I do not have a solids key. The majority of my files come in a Solidworks format, I have been using Autocad for the last 15 years but am now leaning towards Solidworks

I think MPMaster is fairly easy to edit to have it output what you want, if there a Zim/max comments etc. it is not affecting the output of the finished product so load it up and run it!
I have Solidworks and X3 open together on a regular/ daily basis, never have a problem

What version are you running? Have you tried cleaning out the commontemp folder? I had this same problem mainly with X2 MR2 SP1, very buggy.

I think the Toshiba Satellite laptops are a good deal for the money, I have one at home with a 17" widescreen and 4GB ram running an Intel Core2 Duo processor, it will run circles around anything we have here at work and the price was reasonable
P.S. CNC Apps Guy my 71 El Camino is sporting the original So Cal Trojans license plate frames from the 70's, vintage stuff from back in the day!

You shouldn't have a problem with MU1,the one I had the most problems with was X2MR2 SP1, very buggy. I had a problem with not being able to highlight geometry with X3 and this is one of the issues fixed with MU1

Jason,
Fair enough, I agree the bottom line is I just want to make a program then go make the part, MD's and CD's are not adding any value to the part or making our company any money, unfortunately if everything is not set right in MC then you are not going to get a clean NC file. I like the old days (V9) when I could just make a source program, post for a particular machine, then go out the shop and make the part.

Ernie,
Can I use the reverse function with the 30 day demo version, or only the full version? I would like to be able to export a stl file then use the data to generate a cad drawing.
