There are several different ways to accomplish what you want. You can check the from outside button, use air region, or add entry chain.
I personally would Peel Mill that slot and you'd have Plenty of entry options....
On latest X9 with multiaxis
Cutting a simple projected curve (axis sub would work...) and I'm trying to get more familiar with these paths. I've done a few parts that came out nice with this path before, but I CANNOT get the tool to Climb Cut on a simple contour.
I'm using 3D curves with a surface for tool axis. Driving the center-line (no comp)
I've chained both directions, used radial offset, and even computer comp with No change. Multiple depths but it Always conventional mills...
Out of likes for the day LOL^^^
Yup, I'm thinkin the ball is the way to go maybe now. Anyone recommend a certain size of ball for a .751 hole with a .015" wide 15 deg chamfer. I can just model it up to give me the correct height for chamfer width.
It's on the mill. The .750" bore is +.0015 -0. 2.00" deep with a 15deg chamfer on top and bottom. Cathedral, I think you might have the best Idea (sawing in half) with dummy stock.
Have some aluminum parts I'm going to machine; about 24 of them. The print has a 15deg chamfer ± .002" on a through bore (.750").
We're kind of a mom and pop shop without a CMM or a whole lot of gauging.
What's my bet on checking these Before I send them out for inspection?
Also, on Helix bore toolpath make sure you have "start at center" and "Perpendicular entry" checked if using Wear or Control. You must have a straight line move before you arc into the cut or will most likely get a CC alarm.
