  1. Thank You for the quick responses John, Mark. I did a repair on X2 SP1 and that solved it, it turned out to be something to do with the Yellow calculations boxes as every config page I opened did the same thing. it is all good now. Once I get a machine going I'll run a Benchmark on this thing to see how it stacks up against the others.
  2. John, I'm not sure it is the Card but my Level mngr is acting up If I click type a level it gives me the yellow box [1 to 2000000000] and then the only way out is through the red X. I thought I'd start with the video card first.
  3. Bogusmill, I just got a new system with a 8800 GTS card, did you change any of the settings to make it work with X2 and if so would you mind sharing. THX Troy
  4. How would you make Mastercam post out consecutive depths...on consecutive lines?
  5. Blue screen sounds like either a video card or memory issue.
  6. Roger they are called SSD(Solid State Drives)and I was hoping someone here had tested them as well. The wiki page on them says 5 times as fast as the fastest HD for SSD flash based drives. The biggest advantage of the SSD is for those who use laptops the drives run cooler and are near shockproof. Prices as of today for 32GB SATA 2.5" from $400+ not exactly cheap HP for your computer.
  7. Ployd, You should ask you reseller for a trial license, we had a project here that I was able to test ART on and it worked so well I was able to sell my dept. on buying it for my seat.
  8. Select "one other operation" in the Restmill parameters page then select tp #3 hit regen. Is that what you wanted?
  9. From the start menu > All programs > Mastercam X2 > Documentation > (Down at the Bottom)Mastercam X2 Post parameter Reference
  10. This may or may not be related to the update(probably not as it took this long to happen), today X2 MR1, And X2 MR2 wouldn't open(I was getting splash screen to "Reading Keymapping file" then "unhandled exception"), after some trial and error I was able to keep everything the same by adding .bad to the end these files in the chooks folder: boltcircle.ft, Zip2go.ft Of course neither of these tools now work but MCAM is now up and running again. The way I figured this out was I moved my config, cnc machines, and chook folders to another directory. Then started mastercam that worked so i moved the config folder back and tried it again, that worked so I well you can se where this is going. Anyway I hope this info is helpful to someone. TG
  11. drexen16, Mastercam comes with one of the best help files I've ever seen, simply hit Alt+H on your keyboard to access it from MCAM or hit the big ? on the toolbar or at the top of the page to the right of settings. Type in cone and see what you get.
  12. I'm sure the Mastercam reseller you purchased Mastercam from would be more than happy to answer these questions for you.
  13. I can't answer your question but if you go streamingteacher.com The Art classes are free.
  14. Inside corner same rad as tool???(If so try creating an entry line) Tool set to center instead of tip?(Maybe)
  15. Tim I think you answered your own question, the key is that you simplify the setups on the the parts you are giving you setup headaches either through the use of a tombstone with vises like mentioned above or by creating a fixture that meets your needs. As far as the intimidation factor goes, find out who wants to run the new machines and you will find the one who is willing to learn a new way of doing things. I think many times people give the guy with seniority the first crack at a new machine without asking or considering they are perfectly happy doing it the way they always have. In the long run I think you'll find that gravity removing the chips for you allows the horizontal machines to run unattended for very long cycles, and the longer the cycle the less significant the setup time becomes.
  16. Is it affecting the the ability to run the machine? If not I suggest you make you edits at the computer until you can get the machine repaired. (HAAS should have the part on the truck)
  17. What version are you running? What Surface Toolpath are you having problems with?
  18. We import IGES files all the time. The only setting I see in the config, converters section related to iges files is IGES files Tolerace values, which I have unchecked. And on the file open dialog there is an options button when iges is selected for file type, my setting are Do you have MR2 patch 1? (not saying it is the fix).
  19. Leonard great tips above I'd just add an intermediate finish scallop path .005 stk to leave and .01 stepover should do it. use the largest taper you can 5deg? and if the walls are steep go outside in to avoid large material engagement in the transitions.
  20. +1 for flowline great finish, +1 for tapered walls (just remember to grab the bottom circle)Tapered walls also works great for rough pocketing toolpaths and then finishing with tapered endmill(s). Yep use alt+prnt Scrn for just the the active window. Upload the file to photobucket(host the picture) and paste the img code in your text here.
  21. Create helix, then contour 3D. I recently requested the tapered walls function be added to Helix Bore for just this reason.
