  1. We had this happen to us as well, turned out to be a bad video card. it was a GT series anyways, nice reason to upgrade !
  2. We have FADAL6030 VMCs, I run SS304 running at 100IPM. These machines are not meant to do these HSM toolpaths, there is certainly no banging, I have filters set as above, however I do not set backfeed any higher than the cut feed; that way the servo does not have to slow down or speed up.
  3. Which post do you have, MPMaster ? Do you want to make the Mods yourself or for anyone of us to do them here.
  4. Are you writing by hand or Mastercam postprocessor. U can use the generic MCAM post and get Fanuc style subprograms. If you are wondering how to do them in MCAM, you have several options but the most used is probably Toolpath Transform.
  5. I believe your SIM should still work for MCAM4SW, you would only be changing slightly, the interface should be pretty consistent across platforms. Mastercam asociates but when it comes to new geometry it will loose the link to the Geometry, you will have to reselect.
  6. Hey off topic but on the Dynamic database are you sure that Chrome freezes panes, I just tryied it and it does not do it.
  7. Your PC Provider might be able to offer a free upgrade to Windows 7 or a very inexpensive one.
  8. I would rough out the basic boss with a 1/2" VariMill, then use the SlotMill and remove the material on the straight part of the wall, finally run a radiused SlotMill finish off the radius on the bottom, I would lastly run a DoveMill to machine the angled undercut. You would also be better off turning this intead of milling, and mill only to square up the base; or Mill-Turn and do it all on one machine.
  9. Post a snippet of your code, and which post are you using MPMaster or IHS.
  10. I can help you out, which post is it, MPMaster or IHS. What exactly are you trying to accomplish ?
  11. Do you have to use Axis Subs, I find that when you try to mill straight walls because the cutter never leaves the center, I get undercuts and not a staight wall. You should try simultaneous 4th axis or the screenshot you have might also work, you would probably need a second plane for the Rest operation on the material missed by the roughpass.
  12. If you are having trouble with your feedrates you can try resetting them instead of unlocking them.
  13. I've got some experience coding, I have done some work in access and VB. Roger would this be the portion to change. if (result) { filename = Path.ChangeExtension(filename, ".MCX-5");<------------- change to ".MCX-6" // Tell Mastercam to save it as... if (Mastercam.IO.FileManager.SaveAs(filename))
  14. Screen shot of one of the parts to analyze, include at leadt the overall length to gage others features. I have used optirough, and the 2D HSM toolpaths extensively, no problems what so ever, I do have varimills here at the shop so that makes a difference.
  15. I think he wants to back off from the wall to eliminate cutting rubbing. So far thats pretty much the only way, how about open chain entry does it still touch the material during dwell.
  16. We have V9.1, X3, X4, X5, X6. Not a problem, only issue is that when I close V9.1 it sometimes closes the NetHasp and disconnects the SIM; shutting down MCAM.
  17. Are they doing it for the ability to name the toolpath group with details about the gage lengths, and diameters of the tool. I currently do this with the tool definition and it can also be done in the tooltable, which gets posted out with the codee. This is how I do mine:
  18. 17-4, 15-5, SS304 are in the same family of material. I use Guhring Varimill 3080 Series and cut at 650 SFM, 5000RPM, 100IPM all day. Use a milling chuck, and some coolant as the material is pretty gummy.
  19. I agree, it would be difficult to keep track of changes made to any of the libraries. We have migrated everything to the Server, no matter where I am, even from home, I can program a part and get the same exact output. Why would your operators be posting files or do you mean you. Anyways is not as bad, besides if you have to make a change it takes nothing but a few clicks to restablish the links to the proper libraries.
  20. If you use Cimco Edit it gives a better calculation of Machine Time.
  21. I have not tried to this at that line, but I can imagine that for the remaining ops you have to change a second postblock. Look for the block where you changed it already and do a search for the same variable. I have done this with the comments for each tool op right below the tool, it changes with every tool not just the first one. To get it to change I had to add comment$ to the psof, ptlchg, and ptlchg0 postblocks.
