  1. The angle is 1.7882 deg / side. I would start at maybe 200 sfm x .003
  2. +1000 The models we get are always "For Reference Only" Trying to go through and double check everything takes longer than drawing it up from scratch. IMO
  3. It seems the clearance plane stays in Top/Top no matter what WCS your T/C plane is. Makes little to no scense to me. If I want my tool to retract in Z, 1" above the part, I might have to make my clearance plane Y and retract to -3.500. WTF?? My solution is to draw a vector line in the direction I want, with an endpoint at the height I want. Then I select User defined clearance plane, select my vector line. Then for clearance height I select the endpoint of the line. Works everytime.
  4. If you are just trying to jump to a specific location, try M99 P###, where ### is the "N" number to jump to. I re-read you post, what I described above would only work from the same program. What you could do, in your subprogram if an error is detected, set a flag in a local variable, then test the flag in your main program and jump accordingly
  5. SR71 parts were a long way from being hand made. Before CNC there was NC, and hydrotels
  6. first, draw a helix representing the thread. Then draw the thread form and create a swept solid along the helix.
  7. A lot of good suggestions,. Pre-set tools I think is a must. Probes also save a lot of time. Making fixtures that all use the same size bolts. Anything that eliminates having a setup guy walking around looking for some little thing. (where do all the allen wrenches keep going?) Our shops policy is to run a first artical, then the machine sits until it's signed off by inspection. In a way, it seems like a waste to shave seconds off the set up time, and then the part just sits in inspection while 3 inspectors are standing outside the door smoking and drinking coffee. What can you do?
  8. Did you regen the toolpath? If you just change the feed and repost, it won't change.
  9. Around here, an owner of a building can do his own work. However, if it's a commercial building, any work must be done by a licensed contractor.
  10. +1 on that of all the default values, I would say almost none of them are what I would want. Like drill point angle always defaults to 118 deg. When was the last time you used a 118 deg drill?
  11. You may need to change the model number of the indexer type in the parameters of the controller. We have several Haas 4ax mills, and we sometimes play musical rotaries. If I set the rotary type paramter to the wrong type, it will do just what you described.
  12. Our IT guy frowned on the idea of re-formatting, so he spent a few hours yesterday cleaning up the registry and uninstalling some old crap. I unistalled and reinstalled MC for about the nineth time, and still got the error. I noticed this morning that if I tried openning an NC file in Cimco, I got the error Simaccess.dll not found.(even though it was in the Cimco folder) After doing some searching, I found Cimco in four different folders. This is after I had uninstalled it. I deleted them all. Then I uninstalled MC, reinstalled it. Clicked on the icon, and almost $hit my pants when It fired up with no errors. Now, if I could only edit my control defs, and have them STAY that way, I could maybe get some work done.
  13. I don't see your attachment? You can draw your tool on a level, or in it's own file. I prefer to use a level. There can't be any other geometry on the level you choose. Draw it as if you were drawing a revolved solid. Make sure you draw it at origin and top view. The colors don't matter for mill tools. The center line can't be solid, you need to change it to a centerline, or better yet, delete it all togehter. Also, you need to have a flat at the bottom of the tool. If your chamfer tool goes to a point, make a tiny flat at the tip or you'll have problems. Go to define a new tool, choose undefined as the tool type, and click on custom level.
  14. At first, after clicking OK, mastercam seemed to run fine, but I had some issues. I couldn't load in a Step file, when I posted a program (using my post) the NC code came out with things out of order, etc. When I re-installed MC, those problems went away. However, I'm still getting random lock ups doing simple things.
  15. Well, yesterday I uninstalled X5. I uninstalled X6. I deleted every file and folder I could find that related to mastercam. I went into the registry and deleted everything related to X5 and X6. I then did a fresh install of X5. Same friggin error. Installed MU1, same error. Reinstalled X6, no errors w/ X6. The next time I see our IT guy, I'm going to see if he can reformat the HD and start from scratch.
  16. I have no idea why the letter bee is showing up as happy faces. WTF
  17. It's pretty easy, in fact, as I recall there was an example proram in an old Reinshaw manual doing just this. Say you want to probe the part in 2 locations and align them parallel. Probe the first spot, and store that Z value at some convenient location, let's say #A Probe the second spot and store that location at #B Now, just increment the B axis work offset by the Atan of (A-B)/D (distance between a and Then run it again to check.
  18. Can you post the file, or at least some screenshots?
  19. After I uninstalled, I didn't edit the registry. I'll try that on Monday. If that doesn't work, maybe the whole computer could somehow find itself becomming the victim of an "accident"
  20. I uninstalled X5, and deleted everything I could find. Re-installed everything and the error message is still there. The problem I had loading in step files went away though. As far as third party add ons, I don't see anything installed.
  21. Tried that this morning. Still same error
  22. It did it with the config file that was there. I transferred my config file over, same thing. Also logged on as the same user. I noticed they have X6 installed. I don't know if that installation messed something up. I wasn't planning on using X6 untill FU1 came out, but I tried loading a STEP file into X5, and it kept locking up, over and over. I tried loading the same STEP file into X6 and there was no problem. If this weren't a temp gig, I'd just reformat the hard drive and start over.
