  1. i have had some wierd problems with Haas's. I would suggest doing a complete menory dump, shut the machine completely off ( at the wall) Reload everything, reset your tools and if it does it again, Red tag it.
  2. Are you using any macro variables? Perhaps some interference with the parts counter?
  3. I think a good supervisor is someone who is an expert in what they are supervising. Unfortunately, the guy who knows what he's doing is rarely the guy who gets promoted to supervisor.
  4. What about spraying some Drylube on the drill?
  5. Another way to do this which might be all around cheaper would be to have it circle sawn.
  6. Are you getting any error messages? You need to define your initial stock. Try running verify with the same stock set up settings, perhaps you stock is on the wrong plane
  7. I had a weird issue with a Haas a couple years ago, may be related. We had a part that had been in production for years with no problems whatsoever. They had been run on 4 different Haas's ranging from about 2006 to 2008. Then we bought a new Haas, this was in, I beleive 2009 or 2010. It had the same control, but the software was a little different, but basically the same machine, We started running this same part. F/A was good. After a bunch of parts were run, I noticed one had a big gouge in the side. I started going through them, and found several, with the exact same gouge, in the exact same place. But the rest were perfect. I started dry running the machine and watching it, while doing the outside profile, it would make a wierd move, and it would do it on every 5th part, but not on the 4 in between. Dry running the same program on an older Haas there was no glitch at all. So, looking at the program, the cutter comp was not being turned on and off correctly. (ametuer programmers on the loose) I reprogrammed it, and the problem went away. Why only on the newer control? Why only on every 5th part? But the culprit was a bad program
  8. I was talking about trepanning it on a mill
  9. What kind of quantity? If it's a couple pieces, I'd go with what djstedman suggested, although O'd probably go with the 1/2" em for obviouse cost reasons. Clearing the chips will be important. If you've got any kind of quantity of these to do, I'd go with Treepaning them
  10. I haven't been able to. I usually use a seperate operation for the rough and the finish cut anyway as most often I'll use different speeds and feeds, and often a different cutter for the finish cut.
  11. Not untill the designer of the Haas chip conveyer is drawn and quartered. Not to change the subject of the thread, but in line with tramp oil-, We're running Blaser 2000 in 19 machines. We don't seem to have a problem with oil, but on Monday mornings you can hardly walk into the shop without throwing up from the smell. We've tried every biocide we could find with no luck. Anyone else experience this?
  12. I think the hardest part would be roughing them efficiently I've done a couple impellers lately where I park B and C where I have a good shot, then I use opti rest to rough it out. It's hard to beat opti rest .
  13. Same problem here, &$%# can the intellipoint software and re-install it as a generic mouse and it'll work fine.
  14. I'll look back and see what I can find. I haven't played with mach sim since we started using vericut. But the machine is made up of STL models for each machine component. You can open the STL files and manipulate them. Just make sure you make backup files, as I recall it was easy to get lost
  15. Yes, you need to rotate and move the STL for the 4th axis.
  16. I do the same, copy the file and then miror it. Back in the old Bendix days, we used to just flip the invert X switch and use left hand cutters.
  17. I jst had the same problem with a 14 blade impeler. I don't understand why the post won't support subs. I had to create the subs manually.
  18. I'd go with a 1/2 dia em. We use Garr or Guhring 5 fluters with good results on inco 718. Full depth with 8 -1 0% stepover.
  19. What are you choosing as your geometry? Try drawing a circle with the diamter of the major dia, then click on entities and choose that circle. That will put the correct major dia in the box Or you can create a point at the center and choose the pont
  20. Are you trying to do it on a mill? The best way is with a trepan tool. Whether it's cost effective depends on the quantity
  21. I'd still like to see SW style sectional views. Also, If you could have more than one drawing open at a time, you know, sort of like every other Cad/Cam program on earth. Usually, when X6 crashes, I get up and go get a cup of coffee. But now I'm getting to where I'm wide awake all night from all the cafine. If they could maybe cut the random crashes and lockups in half, I'd be OK
  22. Under toolpaths, select stock model. Than define your initial stock, and what operations you want the stock model created from.
  23. Yes, it is a network. The reason I never save local is that I use STL files for my stock, going from one operation to the next. If I savel local, then transfer it to the network, all my paths are wrong and it's error city if you try to regen a toolpath. However, now with X6 I'm using stock model, so that's no longer an issue
  24. Thanks for the tip, I'll do this monday. I hadn't installed mu2 yet, bacause I need to have our IT guy do it.He is by far the worst, most moronic IT guy on earth and I cringe whenever he touches my computer. It's almost gauranteed my plotter won't work after he leaves.
