  1. probably going to have to turn off tool step peck and coolant.
  2. quote: Simple.......you mirror it just like anything eles. no that just causes too many problems.
  3. coated or uncoated and what size is the cutter. anyway try starting around 200 fpm and .0007-.001 feed per tooth. at least 2 passes or 3 with a multi pass and one spring.
  4. im doing this in x3mu1, when trying to regen the 3 toolpaths i get nothing but errors. I keep getting unable to determine a valid machining zone no tool path created and error on opening regen files.
  5. right click in the operation manager and select mill toolpaths at the top of the list, then go down the sub list to transform.
  6. actually you can use a boring G85 cycle but its recomended to do a sub routine. that way you can get the fast retrat for the first .150 distance then use the same feed as going in.
  7. you need a retract feed of 500. for .150 up from the tapping depth then it returns to the same feed it went in. as for your comment you can also do the same thing by adding a E comment to the g84 line and not changing the settings.
  8. looking for help/recomendations on dealing with a reversing tapping head. does anyone have a custom drill cycle to add to a post to output the code so i dont have to hand write this. want to use a sub program format. it needs a fast retract for .150 up from depth tapping to then feeds out at 1:1 from there back to clearence. this is for a Haas mill.
  9. i was seeing delays of 30-40 seconds opening stuff in X3. it was said this was to be fixed for X4. in the limited time i ran X4 before removing it due to lack of maintence updates it was better but sometimes still 10-15 seconds. I have a new T5500 dell and the lag time is still there with X3. the quad core just sits there trying to get it done. processor goes up to 25-30% like when doing regen on surfacing.
  10. go in through your defaults and set it there.
  11. tried for the last 3 days to get on the ftp site from both home and work. ive been able to in the past, is there a prob.
  12. there were several articles written years ago and im trying to find one of them but havent yet. but what they said is that when doing certain types of arc's that if you didnt use center of the tool then the tool path didnt follow the proper path and resulted in over/undercutting of the part. at the time my shop forman showed me this and this is what we had to do from then on.
  13. you guys are missing the real reason for this. if you dont go to the center of the tool for surfacing it comes out wrong. this has been covered many times.
  14. really nice, i wish i could get my mazak to some of the things your okuma does. one question who did you get your post from.
  15. cant get to the arc settings in my post, its locked inside the psb. i did change the settings in the machine/control def from dont break arcs to quadrants with no change. for the most part whats being posted out looks correct. is there any chance the fusion control is doing this. i wont be able to attach a file until i get home as i dont have direct access to the internet. 16. filter or no filter the g18 was still there. will try on the break arcs.
  17. trying to do a part number on a part. drew the numbers flat layout then used xform project to a 1.250 dia surface. used contour 3d to program and it looks good. its using the right view t/c plane. post it out and try to run it and on the first line after the z down it does a g18 for a partial arc but tries to turn it into a full circle. tried for like a couple of hours to get this but i stopped. any ideas.
  18. parker kalon has a downloadable app for the pc.
  19. find where the file is and make a copy of it or rename it. then you should be able to save to it.
  20. just creat a single 3d toolpath and use transform/translate to do the step over. shouldnt take very long to do.
  21. might try roll around corners instead of sharp in cutter comp.
  22. should be able to set it in your defaults.
  23. the length of the line wont change with the 2d toolpath like a surfacing path would. how deep do you have to go. which level do you have.
  24. if you look in your post there is a setting that makes the rotary axis return to home. change the setting on this probably to a 0.
